Sweet
I love it.  He's still relatively young and was one of our best players.

Quote:Now let's hope he doesn't go Jeremy Mincey on us. Something tells me, though, that all signings from now on will be players eager to ride the Gus Bus.

Anything is possible, but that's not a huge contract to worry about cutting a guy that decides he's made it.

I'm thinking his performance will get better once he doesn't have to play every snap, though. Getting other good D-linemen is critical for this team.

happy to see him signed but thats very true,

i think roy miller will get a free pass to next year because of his contract and his shoulder. If it is true he is not fully fit I can understand his lack of disruption but we need another run stuffer to pair with him on first down, then put in marks on second and third down to give us that pass rushing edge
Glad to have him back. He's had a really good year and seems to be a great fit in this defense.

Great move. Caldwell really is building a dynasty here.

Caldwell really is starting to build a dynasty around here. Now let's get MJD signed.

Slow down young Jedi.
Man, he's gonna be really disruptive when we add a nasty edge rusher to the DL
Great move. Marks stood out to me every game.

I think Caldwell said he wants to retain MJD. However, he never recovered his pre-injury form, so I think he has permanent damage in his foot and would be a backup if we could draft a running back in 2014.
One less off season hole to worry about. Great signing...congrats to both Marks and the organization.

MJD is closing in on 2000 career carries. He'll never be the same guy he was 3 years ago. That said he's a great competitor and smart player, so I could see him getting resigned for a much lower number than his last contract. Hopefully we can make the playoffs in the next couple of years and he can have a Natrone Means sort of renaissance.
Quote:Excellent move by Caldwell.

He's been by far the most effective interior pass rusher on the roster.

He is not just a pass rusher. Remember the fumble recovery at Cleveland? I loved the way Kevin Harlan said his name when he ran with the ball.
Quote:Per NFL Network....EARNED!!!

Yup he earned it, glad they didnt wait for him to become a FA and risk losing him

A dynasty???

Whoa, slow down a little.   Let's try to reach mediocrity first.
8 million guaranteed what a great deal! And on Mjd I think we draft someone and that rookie can hopefully do the same thing Mjd did his rookie year with Freddy t

dynasty talk before even a single 6 win season?? Laughing

...and now lets get the soon to be 30 y/o RB signed???

uhhmmm......where was that thread again about fans from the northeast cities compared to their southern bretheren?? :whistling:

The mediocrity is not going to last forever. We might actually become a dynasty someday after all of our problems are fixed. Some board members are saying we should make the playoffs next year.

In the last 4 decades theres only been 5 what I would call "dynasties"....the Patriots, Cowboys, Niners, Redskins, Steelers

3 SB WINS in a decade would qualify.

Saying at this juncture that Caldwell is "building a dynasty" based off of what we have seen so far is beyond laughable even for some of our homers.
