WOOT!

Good to see.  Marks has proven he could be valuable in pass rush situations.  If we get more depth at DT it would be nice to see him come in fresh on passing situations.

Good, how much money we'll we save from cutting Mincey?

Appreciate it! So basically its a wash. Also great to hear that some of the money will count as this years salary.

It's a wash on the contract side but it's a bargin on the production side.  Marks has been our best player on the defensive line.  They Paid that man

Ironic post is ironic.

Smart move by Caldwell and company squeezing some of the signing bonus under this years cap and minimizing the long term hit.  I wonder how much they were able to assign to this season.
I like the move. Marks has been very good this season.

Very happy we have him under contract. He is what was expected of Alualu. We haven't had a good pass rushing DT in ages (Stroud).

Next up, MJD. Can't think of any other of our free agents worth an extension... Will Blackmon?

I think we should resign Ball and Blackmon on far deals for both sides. 2 to 3 year deals IMO.  Maybe a little raise but not to much, they both played solid for us.

I like the move. It seems reasonable, and keeps a good player around.

Too much positivism here.  Someone hate this move already.

Outside Poz, Marks is arguably our best defensive player

I think it goes Poz, then Marks/Cyp. Cyp definitely has the most potential of any player on our defense. I think he has elite potential.

Cyp played a huge roll on our defense this year and made some very nice plays.

This past film room friday highlighted some very nice plays by him

Just saw the clip. Those were some big time plays..
I did not like the re-signing. Marks put up average numbers. Even if he doubled his 2013 salary figure it was reward enough for JUST average play.

Reports are there's a glut of quality defensive linemen in free agency this season. There are also the usual number of quality defensive linemen in this year's draft.

So, it makes no sense to sign Marks when we could easily have snagged a much better defensive lineman in either free agency or the draft.

I was wondering if there are any jags fans who hate this move. This is about as close to a universally lauded move as I've seen on this message board. Shoot, I don't even see any reservations about it.

Never mind. Just saw Jungle cat's post.
I would like to see how Marks fares next to a dominant pass rusher like Clowney.
