A qb with good pocket movement can make any offensive line look decent.
Teddy and it's not even close. Manziel is the better athlete, but Teddy is far more superior on every other aspect.
what if we take Matthews at 3 and trade back into the first to get Maziel.

Is Matthews a natrual right tackle who never played any other position? If not, you can forget about him. We need guys who spent their entire careers at one position and were not left tackles.
Don't even think about trading back into the first round. That would cost too much. We will get the #8 pick in Round 2 regardless of what the Redskins do if we lose to the Colts agian. This is not like last year, when we were tied with only one other team and clinched alternating picks. So trading up in the second round would mean from #40 to #35 or something like that.

That's a terrible idea.

He played RT when Joeckel was at LT.
If Bridgewater is there at our pick, I don't see how we can pass him up with the hopes of being able to take Manziel. If you pass on a guy hoping to get another guy, there's no telling when somebody may jump you to take the guy you want. We did the same exact thing to the Rams when we drafted Blackmon.

Was he a natural at that position or just there because Joeckel is a better left tackle?
Quote:Wow, really??
Don't care how wrong I am. For all I know he ends up going in the 3rd round. I was going to do an in-depth "explanation" post, but since the draft isn't until 5 months, and I'm lazy, I may as well wait (or not do it).
And for people who think it's crazy. The draft is never right, especially 5 months in. Mock draft will look completely different 5 months from now. Then the draft will be completely different from mock draft. And then production is completely different from draft position.
Ride the Johnny train!! You're probably wrong anyway, so why not go big?
Teddy Bridgewater because he's more consistent. Not to say Manziel is not consistent, it's just that Teddy has been more steady. Take a look at his bad games v. Rutgers and UCF. He still had eye popping statistics with over 67% comp and 300+ yds. While Manziel's LSU/Mizzou games weren't too bad, but were not consistent with his big games. I know there's an argument to be had with level of competition and maybe injury, but this is just my opinion.
Personally I wouldn't be upset with either one, but as of now (I know things could change) I'd be surprised if they go with Johnny Manziel if they're both available during our pick.
The real question is who do the Texans want? If they are convinced it is Teddy or bust, and of course nobody is saying during their head coach search, sooner or later we will stop talking about him.

I briefly went to the Texan's message board and got the impression Teddy was their guy, though they don't really seem too excited about it. But they also had a link to this really good in depth look at
Manziel and
Bridgewater's strengths and weaknesses. This particular site has Bridgewater rated as their #2 prospect overall, and Manziel #4 overall.
Quote:I was about to say what you did in the 2nd sentence.
I wouldn't be against drafting Manziel in the late first. Not 3rd overall.
Yea keep dreaming if you think Manziel is going late in the first. He will be gone withing the first 5-7 picks. Hope we get him.

Why is Uche still there? Isn't the object to improve the interior OL?
I still have this sneaking suspicion that Manziel falls to the top half of the second round when all the QB hungry teams snatch up the blue-chip guys at other positions, and he slides past the teams with solid QBs. I see Bridgewater going high, and someone will take a chance with Carr on his potential alone and honestly I think thats it.
Quote:Was he a natural at that position or just there because Joeckel is a better left tackle?
He moved to Left Tackle because he could play Left Tackle. There are no "natural" right tackles, just guys who can't play Left Tackle that end up there.
which guy is bigger? that's all that matters

arm strength is NOT overrated
