Quote:Arm strength is NOT overrated.
I am not saying arm strength is irrelevant. Of course I care about it. But people love to think if you don't have a strong arm, you can't play quarterback, which is not true. Joe Montana said he does not have a strong arm. I read Peyton Manning "has the weakest arm in the NFL." The West Coast Offense was created to compensate for somebody with a weak arm and teams have won Super Bowls by running it. Arm strength is important, but not as much as many people try to make you believe.
Bridgewater is a better pro prospect than Manziel, and it's not even close.
Not a fan of Manziel. His "run around in the backfield for five seconds and then lob it up to Mike Evans" style isn't going to work so well in the NFL. I think, at best, he's another Doug Flutie.

We need a quarterback who is able to run in the backfield five seconds and complete a pass. If Teddy can't move around like that, he will get sacked a lot.

No we don't. We need a guy with good pocket presence who can deliver accurate passes and get out of the pocket when necessary. Bridgewater could potentially be that guy. Manziel isn't that guy. He's a great runner and a savvy improviser. He's not a pocket QB, and the NFL is a pocket passing league.

Ask yourself this. Does it take a special qb to become a pocket quarterback? Or is it just that some pocket quarterbacks turn out to be special? An inexperienced Manziel became Johnny Football in his freshman year. 2nd year he clearly progressed in the passing game, but at the same time, why fix Johnny football when it isn't broken? I don't care what offense they run in college you still have to project. My projection is that Manziel will learn to be a pocket quarterback, while other pocket quarterbacks will never learn how to be Johnny Football.
