Is it contributing to Branch's development?
Quote:Who cares if he is 34? That means he has a lot more experience than the rest of our defensive line. You want a decent free agent? That is what Babin was when we picked him up.

You must not be watching #58 on Sundays. I have been liking what I see. Your post needs a face palm.
He wasn't a free agent.  He was dumped by the Eagles and we claimed him off waivers.

I wouldn't mind keeping him around for the right money, if he can stay away from the stupid penalties.
Babin hasn't played all that great.  If he is willing to take a dramatic paycut or an incentive based contract it could be good for both teams.

FWIW, there's been a change in Babin over the season and certainly since last year. Instead of just standing around the sidelines and watching the game go by when the offense is on the field, he has become much more animated and quick to whack somebody on the back after a big play. He's up on the sideline and into it. He wasn't before.

I say restructure his contract and keep him through training camp. If he earns a job, he can be an asset even at 34.

Ya, he will be lucky to earn a spot next year.

I agree with the OP that it speaks a lot about the culture that the coaching staff is building that vets are willing to take a pay cut, asking to stay etc.  They just might be building something great here

91% is probably the best that can be achieved.

Yes. I distinctly recall a jags coach comment how Andre has picked up a second and third move this season. He'll need to develop more if he wants to get to the next level, which would be good for a high draft pick to see everyday.

You're the best that can be achieved...
vet minimum why not

Dude.

If Gus is convincing people to stay and old-time Vets to take paycuts because they buy into the program, then we're definitely going places with Gus at the helm. I'm excited about what this says more than just having Babin return.

Has Babin even committed a penalty since the Bye?

4 sacks in the last 5 games.

In that same vid CJ Spiller tells Babin to slow down jokingly.  Babin says  "I'm just trying to stick around one more year, man."

That pretty much sums it up for me.  I just hope that his motivation is genuine enough to play hard again next year once they strike a deal.  It seems to be in that video.
Hearing Babin wants to stay in Jacksonvile is good news.  Babin is a solid vet who keeps the morale up.  Hopefully we hear more of this in years to come.

Standards are getting lower...
Quote:Would you want Babin mentoring Clowney?

I don't want the Jaguars to pick Clowney. We need to get our quarterback in Round 1.

Did he really say "they just like us"? If so thats hilarious.
I think I heard him say "just like last year"
