Not to mention he is the face of our franchise... we still need that until we rebuild a bit more and stars start to emerge...hope he stays

Quote:I rather doubt he'd be willing to take a backup role. He's got too much pride to be taking a back seat to anyone.

Mojo is not Kobe...  Any time you listen to him talk you can tell he's not that type of Ego.  "Jones-Drew" is even a recognition of his own history and background.  To think that he doesn't understand his position and how his own time-line based on a RB's career seems a bit cynical.

I have no doubt that if the Jaguars offered a respectable deal and provided him the opportunity to sustain his achievements with the team while being a mentor, MoJo would jump at it.

The main factor remains the new direction of this team.  This isn't the Jack Del Rio era of throwing junk at the wall and hoping something will stick.  This isn't the Gene Smith era of having a direction but no real direction.

Maybe I'm pushing my own hopes onto what we've seen these last 7 weeks.  I can admit that I'm drinking the teal-aide.  But this feels different that it's ever felt for a very long time.  And I think MJD may feel the same thing.

As an aging RB that only has a few years of great football left, I can see him staying here and making a true push.  I don't know how many other real options he has to get with a contender.  Most real contenders already have a younger RB in their fold or have such a heavy pass game that MJD will be nothing more than an afterthought.  This team is still needing his services.  Plus, he's still young enough to not only contribute, but wise enough to help mentor the offense and the RB squad.

It's really a perfect match.  And I think MJD is smart enough to see that.  The only doubt I have is that he might have a mid-life crises and forget all the idealism/faith of his youth.

So you think he's "not that kind of ego" when he chose number 32 because 32 teams passed on him and he wears a Superman shirt under his jersey? OK................

I'd say that is more motivation than ego.

Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, and Chad Johnson had ego problems. MJD? Not so much.

I really don't know if mojo would be very valuable as a mentor a la taylor. I'd be happy to see a rookie spell todman next season. I'm not opposed to mojo, todman, and a rookie as our qb will need all the relief they can get. I think a $7million incentive heavy deal should be near the top range of what we offer.

Surely you're talking about a multi-year deal?
Quote:I think there is a big difference between 28-30 year old Fred Taylor and 28-30 year old MJD.  Taylor didn't lose a step until his last couple years in the league.  MJD needs to lose weight tbh.

Not trying to be mean; I love the guy.  I have an autographed picture of him in my man cave.  I just think for his sake, he needs to get some speed back; however, I'm not sure if that is possible without going on roids or something.

I think Maurice can work on his speed. His speed improved from the beginning of the year till now as he's gotten healthier and in better shape. An off-season healthy and able to work I believe he can be in better shape and a little faster.

Everything IMO is about the contract he's willing to take.
He definitely can improve his speed with a full healthy off season I think he will be stronger & faster then he is now. Post (Lis Franc)

That's not the same thimg . That's called having a chip on your shoulder and having something to prove. He proved it.

Being passed up by 32 teams and then keeping accounts on that is different than wanting the ball every single time because you think you are the only player that can make a play.  Kobe and TO are very similar in terms of their ego.  MJD is not that type of individual.  Wearing a superman shirt is the same as demanding to be the center of an offense?  I just completely disagree.

1 example, the kneel down at the 1 yard line against the Jets.  Kobe would never do that--He'd have gone straight in for the TD...  MJD didn't.  He's been a TEAM first player since he became a Jaguar.

But, if you can't tell the difference between a Kobe Bryant versus an MJD, it's best we not argue...  I see those two personality types as completely different.  As a business owner, someone who manages, I would think you'd see it too.  But whatever.

Anyways, you think I'm way off.  I think you are WAAAAAAAAAY off.
