Quote:as off and on as Henne is it is night and day compared to Gabbert. Blaine had his chance to make this his team and be a productive player. We gave him more then enough time and chances. A lot of teams would have benched him his first year with the production we have seen if they had any kind of back-up. The guy has the physical ability but no knack for the NFL game. My eyes can't take anymore Blaine Gabbert games.
what time and what chances?? Under this regime he had play a total of 2 3/4 games. As Caldwell said in his interview, BG holding the clipboard and learning has been very good for him. How easily yall forget, After the buy they cut down the playbook and the OL started playing much better with a better running game. I cant say BG would be better under those conditions, But you also cant say he would be terrible or not as good as henne. I think caldwell wants to see BG in games under those conditions with a better running game and better Oline. Plus BG is under contract hes not going anywhere henne will want millions and they wont pay him.
He should play. This team is out of playoff contention.

I think most of this is gm's loyalty to his players. Go out and trash even the weakest member of your team and your team will loose respect for you especially in such a unified all for one one for all locker room as bradleys.

Cutting him will say as much but it makes no sense to do so before the cuts next training camp.

The only thing this makes me think is will they keep gabbert for another year as the third or second qb on the roster

will they go to themselves, henne is not the guy, for all gabberts faults can we make something of him by nurturing him even if it is just trade bait for a low round pick.

not a clue,honestly... so so so excited to find out, the offseason cannot get here fast enough
Tough one. Part of me wants to wash my hands of Gabby, yet the other part of me thinks that being stuck on the bench and not getting to be out there with his team can improve his play. This is a guy that's been the guy pretty much his whole life, being healthy and still on the bench can really give a guy some fire. Everyone seems to have improved at least a little bit, maybr Gabby has too. And I wouldn't be worried about keeping Henne out there to keep rapport with the current corps, it's been a revolving door the whole season pretty much. There is little to no rapport there as it is

Not only that, but after 3 OC and 4 HC this will be coming in to the second year under the same system. And standing on the sidline next to the OC listening and learning why plays are called and how he opperates the offense could only help Gabbert. He has a high Football Intellegence and is one of his stonger points. Plus Gabbert prolly has more repport with the 3 and 4th recievers then henne does. :teehee:

Quote:BG improvement has become apparent in practice and has been mentioned before. After only 2 3/4 games this year behind a terrible line and a unchanged offensive scheme that was not working, you could not grade how well or how poorly BG will be. I bet Caldwell keeps him goes forward next year with him untill he can draft the only elite QB coming out since Peyton, Winston. Or its GM speak then you really cant trust anything he says.
D-linemen aren't rushing the QB in practice.

Our D-lineman aren't rushing the QB in games. :teehee:

Not Gabs fault he isnt getting a decent pass rush.

Thinking Henne is gone next season and Gabbs has a chance to win his spot back during pre season while we develope our rookie, who ever we take. Is foot work and pocket awareness something you think can be improved? I bought in to Gabbs heavily. I remember like it was yesterday watching the draft and stepping away to use the restroom and coming back to my buddies tellin me to look at the TV, while away I missed our trade up. Come on Gabbs, make me proud

It's certainly his fault that he panics.
Quote:If Blaine steps one foot on that field......Channel surfing will begin early in my household.  This job is Henne's until we draft Manzeil.

Bravo!

If Caldwell/Bradley/Fisch saw Gabbert as having the ability to regroup and revive his career here after sitting behind a veteran for a while, he'd get an opportunity to get back on the field and prove himself.  The fact that he hasn't speaks volumes.  He's not their guy.  They'll get theirs hopefully in the off season.  Gabbert is damaged goods here, so if he's going to resurrect himself, he'll be doing it in another city.

Thanks for the laugh regarding Henne wanting some sort of blockbuster deal to stay in Jacksonville.  I'm sure other teams can't wait to beat down his door.  In the end, he'll most likely wind up the backup QB here in Jacksonville for another year.  Heck, Gabbert might be back next year too since he's under contract.  I'm not one of those who think he's going to be cut at the first possible opportunity.  There's no reason to do so.  But, I AM one of those who thinks that if he's sticking around, he's not going to be competing for a starting job.  He'll be fighting Henne, and any other QB on the roster to be the #2.  This team will get a QB next year, and that will be the guy they put their hopes in moving forward.

Henne isn't going to be pulled after a loss. He stills provides the most chance for a win.
Does Gabbert hold any sort of trade value or will the Jaguars receive any sort of compensation if he sings elsewhere?

I realize how awful Gabbert is, but maybe there is a team willing to waste a 6th round pick on him?

I highly, highly doubt it.
I want to give Gabby one more chance, and by chance I mean to get us a better draft slot!

While I agree with you that having so many OC's and HC's it makes your head spin.

Football intelligence is not football instinct.

Lame just doesn't have it.

It's clear that he's not our future, so why put him in there now?  And even if there's a chance that he could produce just as well as Henne did, all that does is prove that he can be just as good as one of the worst starting QBs in the league.  Come on, even Oklahomie gave up on Blaine Gabbert.  I really think it's time you should, too.

Teams would rather draft Back Foot in the 6th round than to trade that pick away for Gabbert.
Is this Caldwell interview online? Is there a link?

Quote:I don't need to see more of Henne. He's captain checkdown and is obviously holding back the team from developing, but Gabbert wouldn't be an improvement, so I doubt they'll bother making a change if only to try to keep continuity for everyone else.

Caldwell was probably just trying to stir up some dumb team to give us a late round pick for him.
But...but Caldwell doesn't do things like that... we lost out on the Monroe trade so bad... :whistling:
