Quote:what time and what chances?? Under this regime he had play a total of 2 3/4 games. As Caldwell said in his interview, BG holding the clipboard and learning has been very good for him. How easily yall forget, After the buy they cut down the playbook and the OL started playing much better with a better running game. I cant say BG would be better under those conditions, But you also cant say he would be terrible or not as good as henne. I think caldwell wants to see BG in games under those conditions with a better running game and better Oline. Plus BG is under contract hes not going anywhere henne will want millions and they wont pay him.

Holy cow; you people still exist? Wow.
Quote:At this point stanzi and gabbert just need to get cut.

Let them remain for this game since Scott would have to wait after being activated than cut them before the final game to make room for Scott and another developemental player( probably a WR or TE).

Play Henne until the 4th quarter of the final game and if we are down by more than 10 points bring Scott and the other unknown in for the experience.
No reason for Stanzi to be cut. He hasn't been able to show anything on the field (Only time he's ever gotten a chance in the NFL was preseason with KC and he was good). Scott and Stanzi SHOULD get their chances in these last two games. That's what a franchise that is doing everything in it's power to evaluate talent and create a team that can win in the future would do. But they won't. They'll start Henne, have Gabbert as backup, and either lose or win with a very low scoring game. Can't rely on position players throwing touchdown passes forever.

No
Quote:I don't need to see more of Henne. He's captain checkdown and is obviously holding back the team from developing, but Gabbert wouldn't be an improvement, so I doubt they'll bother making a change if only to try to keep continuity for everyone else.

Caldwell was probably just trying to stir up some dumb team to give us a late round pick for him.

I've seen some nice development, especially out of the younger players, even with Henne taking snaps.

I've seen nothing that wouldn't have happened with almost anyone playing QB. Anyone can throw screens, slants, and checkdowns.

Most of the improvement is on the defensive side of the ball.

The most impressive part of the offense's growth has been on the play calling side with TDs being thrown by WRs and RBs.

We started running more 10-20 yard routes after the bye week.  Prior to that, the past few years have been pathetic.  I agree that, with the exception of the 1st and goal at the 1 debacle last week, play calling has improved tremendously after the bye.

No team runs a pass play without guys running 10 yards downfield. The playcalling hasn't changed, the quality of the teams we have played has gone down and the quality of our execution has gone up.

You seem to be practicing some revisionism on the season. Henne is doing the same things now he was doing at the beginning of the season, which is mostly throwing a bunch of screens and checkdowns with the occasional quick slant thrown in.

Here are his YPA stats for all the games since the bye week:

7.8, 6.1, 7.5, 4.9, 4.3, 6.6.

In the two good games in that list it was all YAC bringing the stat up.

He's still checkdown chad and the team is only getting better results because they're playing other teams bad enough for the Jaguars horrendous QB to appear functional against them.
Let Gabbert grow his golden locks out again and give him a spot as the first male Roar member.

I'm confused as to your change in strategy.

You are no longer professing love for Gabbert, which is understandable, as you were getting laughed at.

Now you're the anti-Henne, which is fine as he's certainly no All-Pro.

But what's the point? Are you hoping for a return of Gabbert. Do you want to see Stanzi? Did Henne dis your wife/girlfriend?

Just curious.

The point is Henne is no more an acceptable starting QB than Gabbert was. You have to stop thinking as everything being a comparison between Henne and Gabbert, Gabbert isn't even relevant to the conversation. Henne not being Gabbert doesn't make him an acceptable starting QB.

If the Jaguars head into next season with Henne still on the roster it'll be a really bad sign and I'd expect as much whining as there was about Gabbert heading into this season.

You can't be a successful NFL franchise with this level of play from the QB position.

Thanks for the response.

And while that's all well and good, I see Henne as an adequate back up QB, and the Jags brass may as well.

Even though we've been led to believe that whomever we draft will be akin to the second coming, I can still see a circumstance where Henne begins the season as the starter.

Which will apparently give you a heart attack. So who should be the back up and/or potential early season starter? Pretty sure it isn't going to be Gabbert.

Fixed.

Realistically I cant imagine a better backup QB for us.

Stop trying to pin your thoughts on me. I won't be happy if the Jaguars think it's good enough to skate along with the worst QB in the NFL if they just drafted a guy. If they drafted a guy it should mean he's a real elite talent, and if that guy can't beat out Henne it'll be a really bad sign.

Personally I'd rather see them just move on from Henne so there's not even a risk of us having to put up with what we've seen this year again. If they do resign him it had better be a true backup QB contract, and by that I mean no guarantees at all so that if a matt scott or stanzi shows any promise at all they can dump him ASAP.

So you don't like Henne but don't have a clue as to who should be in there?

So you're just going to whine about Henne for the last two games?

Oh boy.
It's what middle-school-girls do when they are wrong. They pout.

Oklahomie was wrong, watch him pout.

From a curiosity standpoint, I'd love to see Gabbert start.  Despite what everyone says about him being the BIGGEST BUST EVER!!! it would be kinda cool to see what he could do now.  The guy's really young.

After all, you guys were all so right about the 2013 Jags being the worst team in NFL history, instead of possibly the 2nd best team in the division.

And you guys were all so right about any QB on the street being better than David Garrard.

I have seen Chad Henne, and have not seen marked improvement in the games he's played this year.  Our team is playing better, but he really isn't.  He's the same guy he was at the beginning of the season.

So yeah, I wouldn't change the channel if the Jags put him in.
