Quote:Henne completely freezes up in the red zone. It's incredible how bad he looks once some mental pressure hits him. It's all in his head. Otherwise he is a decent QB. But you can't live with a PTSD QB having Flashbacks and hallucinating angels like an obama translator inside the 20. Bye Chad.

LOL! Another Dr. Phil wannabe.
Quote:Yeah, I agree. Henne has been a dismal failure, what with all the Pro Bowlers he's had all around him.

I'm sure WonderBoy will have this offense in the top 10 in a game or two. Especially if he's wise enough to come on here and benefit from all the Offensive Coordinators and Quarterback coaches that offer their advice every day.
. I don't think any rational* person expects a rookie QB to come in here and name this a top 10 offense but considering its been dead last most of the season I think a rational person could expect us to win some games with this offense next season.

I agree - depending on who it is and how soon they throw him in there.

I just think it's silly to expect too much from a rookie QB, and some of the posts on here are downright humorous, having us in the playoffs if x,y, or z is drafted.

A rookie QB may be set up to succeed with the Texans, for instance, but the Jaguars roster is still in the construction stages. But hope springs eternal.
Quote:Preemptive hyping of a QB who has yet to play in the NFL. Doesn't get more silly than this.
Hmmm, watching another season of Henne/Gabbert combo or hype up the unknown prospect (T-Brizzlewazzle, please)?  Such a hard choice...NOT!

I just wonder how many of you believe the hype.
I'd much rather be delusional and believe that a rookie QB can come in and make a difference for this offense than watch another season of Henne/Gabbert. I'm pretty sure 95% of the Jags fan base are "delusional" just like i am at this point.

It's not delusional to believe there's a good chance a top prospect QB would be better than the worst starting QB in the NFL, it's really pretty unlikely to draft the top prospect in a draft and have him be around a  75 passer rating lifetime passer like what the Jaguars have currently.

We normally butt heads but this is spot on.  Even Leftwich finished each season with a better than 79 passer rating with us and even rose to 84 on a season. RIght now id say  Bridgewater would be hovering around the 80-85 rating for us and we'd be finishing this season at 7-9.

Also as far as the roster goes a rookie QB would be walking into a decent to above average running game (MJD,Todman) , 2 good receivers (Blackmon,Shorts) , 2 more decent rotation receivers (Mike Brown , Ace Sanders) , 1 big body TE (Lewis) and good offensive tackles.

The team is actually perfectly set to bring in a new rookie QB on the offensive side of the ball.
Quarterbacks anymore are being expected to be able to be thrown to the lions and fend for themselves right out of college.  Sure, you have your Quarterbacks who have the opportunity to sit and learn.  And a lot of times they can become good.  But while you have your Aaron Rodgers, you also have your Kevin Kolbs.

I think if we retain Henne, that a rookie will beat him out in training camp.  At least a rookie from the first round.  If we wait until round 2, we might not see the rookie get a start until after the bye.  Though I think Henne has lead a rather anemic offense, and has limited what we can do.

Will we be playoff bound next year?  I don't know.  I'd say 'maybe'.  I'm not sure we'd win a playoff game next year.  But with a new QB at the helm, I think we wont' be eliminated before week 13 next year.  Nor will anyone be surprised by it.

I think we could eek into the playoff and lose a hard fought game against a good defensive team that is able to pressure the rookie into making mistakes on the big stage. I agree that with better qb play we will be fighting for a wild card spot until the final few weeks of the season.

To me 8-8 is the mark all fans should hope for. 7-9 should be acceptable so long as their are major strides in Caldwell's draftees and anything worse should draw criticism unless the team has a rash of injuries to starters.
Quote:Right, because everything he said was hateful. How stupid is that. Did you even comprehend a word he wrote?

He is absolutely 100% right. Nobody knows how the pick will play, whoever that pick may be. FACT!

He's already discounting the abilities of a potential drafted quarterback.  If Chad Henne is with the team next year, then David Caldwell needs to have his head examined.

O really?  Your one sentence line makes many think that maybe you haven't really thought out all scenarios.  If Henne is with the team next year, how does that NEGATIVELY impact our team?

Henne has provided a production on offense that we haven't seen in 2 years.  He's clearly the starter now.  So if Henne isn't on the team, who is?  Gabbert?  The unproven practice squad QBs?  C'mon now, son.  Think a bit about what you're saying.

Perhaps what you meant is this...

"If Henne is the best QB we have on the roster come week 17 of the 2014 season, David Caldwell needs to have his head examined"

If that is what you meant.  I totally agree.  I don't see it happening... But that is at least something that sounds reasonable.

Funny how people can see but not understand. Discounting the abilities of a potential drafted quarterback? Do you even know what that means?

You don't know who the quarterback will be, you don't know what round he'll be drafted in, you don't know who his teammates will be, you don't even know for sure who the OC will be - and I'm the one you think is stupid for thinking people are getting carried away with the hype of the next Wonderboy?

Ok. And how hard will you cry if Henne is retained to be the backup, or OMG!, the starter for a part of next season?
Quote:I just wanna thank Chad Henne, for being well, Chad Henne.. Lol.. You reminded us all why you are not the guy! You eliminated the hope, that you might once again start next year! I never got my hopes up watching you try and bring the team back, because i already knew that you just couldnt do it.. This loss also will secure im my opinion a pretty decent spot in the draft, to hopefully get your replacement.. Once again thank you Chad! Smile
I hate to break it to you guys, but he'll start more games next year and we will keep losing. I have seen nothing to suggest we are looking to change our ways. We haven't learned.

I could see a rookie QB leading us to an 8-8 record or so but I'm not expecting playoffs.I may change that stance after I see how Free Agency and the draft turns out.

Yes, you are discounting the possible impact of a rookie QB.  Chad Henne is terrible and its not very hard to believe a rookie quarterback could do better.  People should get excited about the prospect of upgrading the position because the team has one of the worst offenses in history this year.
Quote:Um, yeah, ok.
Hmmm just yea!
Quote:I especially love the part where he blamed the refs for the last interception. Hopefully after these next two games, we will never have to suffer through another Chad Henne start.
You're clueless if that's what you thought he was doing.

Who is T-Brizzlewazzle?
