Interesting take on the Atlanta-Jax connection, Bullseye. Yes, Jax could still get their player based on how Atlanta finishes and what Caldwell is willing to give up.
My bet: Atlanta will ask too much or Jax will get outbid.
One way Bridgewater could fall that's not mentioned is his performance against Miami. I think one of the other QBs is gonna pass him, personally, and it could be Carr.
Quote:The last QB that fell in the draft who was highly touted as a prospect was a guy named Blaine Gabbert.
If Bridgewater falls and multiple teams pass on him I hope Caldwell thinks long and hard as to why he's falling.
That's literally the exact opposite of what happened. Gabbert was a late riser. Keep pushing that agenda though.
IMO, our only chance at Bridge would be to lose this week.
Quote:What do people see in Manziel? I'm sure he'll go at the back of the 1st round (like Tebow), but athleticism aside, he doesn't have what it takes. Caldwell doesn't really strike me as someone that would risk a 1st round pick on someone like Manziel.
Unlike Tebow, Manziel is a very accurate passer. The big problem is his size. His height is not ideal, and he's rather thin and doesn't look like he can take a lot of NFL pounding.
Is he the next Fran Tarkenton, Russell Wilson, Seneca Wallace, or Ty Detmer? Picking him early would be a big risk, but the potential is there.

No agenda. Maybe we have different definitions of a late riser?
Gabbert entered the offseason as a top 10 prospect. Feel free to check the dates on these articles I found with a quick Google search.

The potential is certainly there. I hope he gets out of bounds and slides in the NFL. It's the smart thing to do... The difference between RG3 and Wilson.
I think we would be ok with Manziel only because of Gus Bradley. Gus would be on top of the kid at all times, making sure he's focused on the team.

Geno Smith says hi.

Nobody in the draft is the next Fran Tarkenton.

Bridgewater is 100000x better than Geno Smith

Who said that?
The fact that a quarterback was expected to be the #1 pick by most people and
dropped out of the first round is proof we can beat the Bills and still get Teddy.

Bridge is not making it out of the top 5.. no way. He's too good. He has abilities that you cannot teach in a QB. The texans are going to love him

Geno Smith isn't anywhere near the type of prospect Bridgewater is.
Why do some of your struggle so bad with reading comprehension? Her point wasn't comparing Teddy Bridgewater to Geno Smith.
Her point is that:
If a QB that almost everybody had going either #1 or #2 all the way up to draft day falls all the way to #39, then it isn't that crazy to think a guy who isn't a consensus #1 might fall to #6.
If the projected top pick in the 2013 draft falls all the way to #39 behind guys like Sylvester Williams and Travis Frederick, then it isn't crazy to think that Bridgewater falls to #6 behind guys like Barr/Carr/Clowney/Matthews/Mariota.
Do I think Bridgewater falls to 6? No, but I didn't think Geno was falling to 39 either.

Finally somebody actually has reading comprehension! I thought it was pretty obvious that was what I meant. However, I was not thinking specifically about #39 - just he's a second round pick.
Correction: Marcus Mariota is staying at Oregon.

I don't think you get it about Bridgewater. Watch whatever video you get your hands on. There's nothing there.
While the dynamics are not completely identical, a similar dynamic could be at play with Carr.
If the Texans decide to go with a veteran QB, the bidding could begin for Carr, too.
Quote:I hope DC signs a vet like Cutler.
Wow...so Stroudcrowd am I correct in concluding you don't like any of the QBs from this class?
For the sake of discussion, the GBNreport draft order update page currently has Jacksonville picking 5th overall....
1. Houston
2. St. Louis (from Washington)
3. Atlanta
4. Minnesota
5. Jacksonville
While CBSSports.com has us currently picking 6th behind Oakland at 5.
Under these scenarios, it'll be extra tough for the Jaguars to get the top rated QB. Atlanta would seemingly have to pick 2nd for Jacksonville to have a shot at either of the top two QBs. We need another win from Washington.

I think the difference is SoS. Using the full 16 game SoS, it is weaker therefore giving us a better pick.
Quote:Nothing? I wouldn't say nothing. He moves around the pocket as good as anyone. His dropback is OK. He squares his shoulders and utilizes his hips on his rollouts. In fact, he's pretty good when he's outside the pocket. I think his fundamentals are good.

Given the QB play in Jacksonville for the past decade, I don't fault some of the fans here for not being able to recognize a QB who moves well in the pocket, throws an accurate ball, and actually moves his head side-to-side to read the defense.

To be clear, I don't believe Atlanta will work against its best interests. If Atlanta got blown away by an offer superior to that of the Jaguars, they'd take it. But if it's close, it may work in Jacksonville's favor.
I could definitely see Jacksonville being outbid by Cleveland.
At the rate things are going, it could be Clowney that drops. Aside from his bad final season at So Carolina, he just got a ticket for driving 110 mph.
