I like non-quarterback in the first round. Non-quarterback is more versatile.

 

Non-quarterback has flair, athleticism, and plays explosively.

Who cares about versitility; we need a quarterback more than anything. The only reason not to draft a quarterback in the first round is we don't like any who are available at our pick number.

Quarterback is the most important position on the football team.

 

The Jaguars need to draft the best quarterback available regardless of position with each and every draft pick.

Jim, as you can see the momentary bobbled exchange between McCarron and Bridgewater at the snap allowed Carr to hand off deep coverage of Boyd to Fales. Carr made a great play on Manziel there on the jump ball.

They showed utter stupidity and mean-spirited ignorance cutting the veteran prematurely and throwing Gabbert to the wolves. Leftwich was another example of NOT benching a rookie quarterback to learn the pro game.

This is dumb. You can use multiple examples in the past several years that contradict your logic. Luck, Wilson, RGIII, Dalton, and Newton all had fine rookie seasons to varying degrees. Bradford was the Rookie of the Year.

 

It's sink or swim nowadays due to the rookie payscale making first-round quarterbacks far more easy to replace. Blaine Gabbert was probably never going to be a successful NFL player, and you're just going to have to accept that.

 Being thrown to the wolves from Day 1 of his rookie season and numerous injuries his first two seasons didn't prevent Matthew Stafford from developing into a top 10 NFL QB.

 Matthew Stafford only played in 3 games in year two, because of injuries.

 

 The point is that if a QB has enough ability and work ethic,  once he's relatively healthy again,  the opportunity should be present to make substantial strides.  If the QB doesn't progress enough at that point,  it raises a bright yellow flag.

You really care that much about Mayock's opinion that much, that's a tad weird. But your examples of the Blane Gabbert/David Garrard situation and the Leftwich situation were terribly misrepresented that's the part i was really referring to. But I know you won't let that stop you!
