Quote:Henne had less than 80 yards in the first half. His numbers were not going to be great. The team showed fire and were playing like they were on a mission, but Henne was not that good tonight.

The team showed heart, but the other team had more penalty yards than our QB had passing yards.

Half of those yards were Lewis bailing him out of a terribly thrown ball into double coverage, plus the first completion to Ace came off of a tip at the LOS. Henne was garbage all night long.
Gratz needs major help....

Secondary is improving as is the team outside the QB position. We need a QB and have all year. Building the Gus culture will help out for next year but we need more talent. The turf in the stadium has always been slick. At some points of the game it was like they were on ice.

We need to water the grass with the Gus juice. It'll get so much better that it'll become waterproof.

Gratz was trying to cover Andre Johnson without much of a pass rush.   Put Clowney on this team and we'll all see how much better Gratz suddenly becomes.

A 3rd round rookie covering Andre Johnson with no pass rush. Yea I would say that calls for major help......

This. I can't believe the way he's getting roasted. They threw the ball 60 times, so they're going to put up some gaudy numbers. Last year everyone was in love with Derek Cox and Andre nearly put 300 on him. I thought he, along with the rest of the secondary did very well for the most part.
It's an extremely young secondary. You're going to have some ups and some downs.
On plays where he kept his footing Gratz did about as good as you'd expect any rookie to do against Andre Johnson
lost of slipping and falling down on the turf,,, seemed to do a good job to me.

One of the best WRs going against a rookie nad a  2nd year player

Quote:Technically yes, the win is what matters. But the details of the game also matter and to say they don't is utterly ridiculous . First of all, we beat the Texans (wow). The Texans definitely helped the Jaguars with all those penalties. Even with the penalties, we still almost gave this game away!!! The Texans marched up and down the field on our secondary tonight. They even converted on 3rd and 20 during the game O_O. No they weren't dominant all night, just against our secondary....

Quote:Jaggarnaut and jaguarwomen are yall serious? Because we won that means everyone on the team played well? HAHA!! Not to rain on our parade, but you do realize that we almost gave this game away! The fans expectations for our team are laughable.

Because we won, everybody did everything right. SMH!

Quote:I was more worried about our offensive output in the second half. Henne was on pace to put up some real numbers and Cecil/Sanders/Lewis were getting open. After halftime we had too many 3 and outs and if not for some crucial Texans penalties would have probably lost this game.

Well, to be fair the Texans' D is pretty good and Henne is our starting QB, so I guess I wasn't as surprised in seeing some of the 3 & outs in the 2nd half.

I think I was more disappointed in the secondary because I am expecting more out of them as the season goes on as they are young and supposed to be improving. Henne is what he is at this point in his career.
So now I'm a troll for having a debate with someone and stating facts?? Personally, I like our secondary. I would like to think that we have the potential to be one of the best secondarys in the league with the guys we have. I understand that their rookies, but I also know how good they are and last night was not a display of that.  In my opinion they didn't show up....

Key perspective right there.  ^

Yes the secondary continued to show it's age and lack of experience at times - but they were slinging the rock all night.  So - 323 yards is never good - but the 60 attempts resulted in 33 completions and 2 INTs.
Yea, Gratz really struggled last night. But Alan Ball held up pretty well.
You guys realize that AJ has been doing this for awhile? He is one of the best to play the game. The field was wet last night and he took advantage of that. We got little pass rush last night so What do you expect when 3/4 of the secondary has played 1-2 seasons? Serious question; is Evans better than Guy? Guy didn't look terrible but didn't really look amazing either. I haven't seen Evans play this year. Dont have the NFL package
He probably had the type of cleats where you can attach/detach them from the bottom, and a few came loose. Probably had no grip whatsoever. Because him falling like that isn't normal at all...

If you watch the highlight of Sanders' Touchdown throw, you'll see Swearenger come over to try and defend the pass. When he doesn't get there he hits his knees and slides. Looks like he must have slid a good two to three yards on the play. That might indicate that the sod was rather slick last night. Was it very humid last night? I wasn't at the game so I have to ask.

There has been a huge influx of trolls lately from a coordinated attack from another board. A lot of new members are going to have that stigma.

It was humid for a game in December but it didn't seem humid enough to make that much of a difference. I was surprised by how many players were slipping out there.
