Now it's officially official.
Good can we fire Gus?  Probably just wishful thinking.

They were eliminated in 2013

You will have to keep that wishful thinking until January 2 (Black Monday). Shad Khan knows making a staff change now would be completely useless.

We were not eliminated until Week 15 last year.

No actually it be great thinking.  Cause lets all available coaches or will be,  we have a jump on needing one. And to fans and players this is no longer acceptable in Jacksonville.  And no one will fault him for doing it now eliminated from Playoffs. And cant go 500.

And tells the players either get with the new program and try harder or you will be replaced.

How many bad teams must there be in the AFC when only 6 teams make the playoffs and the Jags were somehow not officially eliminated last week with a 2-9 record and finally at 2-10, they get the fork put in them?

Is there any doubt the AFCS is the worst division in the NFL?
We had no chance at the wild card but irony is we still had a shot at the division.  This team should have won the division this year.  When January passed in 2016 without a change at head coach, the die was cast.

If this entire coaching staff has not already gotten their resume ready and looking for a job.....I'd be pretty surprised.

"Real Coaches" know the hammer is coming!  :woot:

Will we now hear of a Gus firing today? Doesn't matter how bad we do now under an interim Coach. It would mean nothing. But it would begin the process of a changeover, and in some way send a message for everyone to do their job.
Lol, division leader is 6-6 and we are eliminated from playoffs

OMG.

Man, how depressing and pathetic is that?

Geez
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan has said that a winning record in 2016 is “everyone’s reasonable expectation at this point.” That may be what he expects, but it will be hard to deliver. The Jaguars have a pretty tough schedule, with five teams that made the playoffs in 2015 -- including the Super Bowl champs. Denver, Minnesota, Kansas City and Houston ranked in the top 10 in scoring defense and Denver, Kansas City and Baltimore ranked in the top 10 in total defense last season. The Jaguars will be better on defense, but the offensive line continues to struggle and that will result in a 7-9 finish, the same as my prediction when the schedule was released in the spring.

There is no reason to think firing Gus Bradley before the season is over will have any effect on who will become available on January 2. We have to wait until that date anyway. Also, anybody who has been watching football for years knows a midseason firing does not help much in most cases. Shad Khan is right about that. The entire coaching staff needs to go. Can you name any team that got much better after a midseason HC firing? Can you name any team that hired a coach the same week other coaches around the league were fired? If not, you have no logic.

The x factor is whether Dave Caldwell will be retained as Jaguars GM.

If Shad Khan elects to retain Caldwell,  it would be a great amount of sense to fire Gus Bradley before the end of the season if the plan is to replace Bradley.   This way,  Caldwell would be able to get a head start on the interview process for the next HC in terms of interviewing candidates that permission isn't needed.

In that case Shad Khan needs to make a decision on Dave Caldwell before the season ends. I don't see that happening.

I agree.  That might be telling as to Dave's future here if Gus coaches the team the final game of the season.  It may mean they're both getting the axe on Black Monday.  Letting go of Gus sometime in December puts the Jags in the driver's seat for selecting their next coach from the available candidates.  The only logical reason they'd forgo that advantage is if both Gus and Dave are getting the axe or if both of them will remain employed here for another year.  Some might not call the latter all that logical.

Shad Khan's reason not to fire Gus Bradley midseason makes perfect sense. It is true not much changes with an interim head coach. I have no idea why people think it would make a difference on the field.

Exactly how can we get a head start on hiring the next GM and HC? If Khan is not thinking about Norv Turner, he needs to wait until Black Monday anyway to see who is unemployed.
