Quote:I agree....and I was one that was totally for tanking the games and finishing with the top draft pick. But to be honest, its not very much fun. During the actual game day I'm rooting for the Jags to win anyway.

I am starting to have the feeling that if the Jags continue to win, the things that need to take care of themselves will. In other words we don't have to finish lousy just to get our QB.

If it happens fine, but if we win then, even better.

A 6 game winning streak to close out the season will be a good momentum boost for the offseason/ next season.
Well said TMD

Vocal minority
Quote:I'm just thankful that not only has the team turned around, but after the second win, and especially after this third, all the "ooooh no we need to tank, ooooh no they're ruining our draft position!" mess has nearly ceased.

I'm a Bama guy. That sucked. But truthfully? Watching the Jags almost every week the past 3 years (thank you, NFL Sunday Ticket, I'm in TX by the way), I am much more thrilled about the Jags improving and even winning than I am down about any crazy Bama loss ruining the chances at another title. (Blasphemy, I KNOW!)

To be able to watch an entire Jacksonville game and actually not fall asleep by halftime with the game out of hand, it's a great feeling.

For a coaching staff that is doing what they are with what they have, and a management crew and GM who are now being proved right for their eye for talent, they will find their quarterback. We can finish 3-13 or 7-9. They can take him top 5 or 6-15. They may move around in the first. They may end up taking him in the second. Or trade back into the 1st for the guy. But they'll find THE guy and I think most of us at this point will give said guy some time to prove them right (at least 3/4 of a season, after this year and the new players, right?? lol).

Realistically though, if we win less than 2 of the remaining games, I'll be disappointed due to this current 4-game stretch. If we win all 4, I'll be shocked. I see 6-10 as a very likely outcome now.

Not bad for the worst team ever.

I'd be happy with that. I will admit that I was amongst the crowd that was fully expecting the goose egg to still be there at the end of the season, so six wins is astronomically better than I expected.
I've got us finishing 4-12.

me too. i think we lose the texans game. theyre desperate.
I wouldnt bet on this team to win any one of the final 4 games. That being said i bet we win probably 1 more and finish 4-12.

That's the one game I wouldn't mind losing.
Quote:Not so sure he won't be. You could be right, but I'm thinking late first rounder at worst. Probably will be selected somewhere between 14th-30th.
If someone wants Andy Dalton as their QB, sure.

Respect, Jinjo, but that's ^  kinda some funny have your cake and eat it too material there.   Waffles?    :teehee:
Quote:They keep showing up and playing like they have the last few weeks they could go 7-9 and I'd be thrilled.

So what you'd be picking in the teens, give me a player like CJ Mosely but more importantly let's keep this momentum going. You think we as fans are excited to see wins, just imagine how much more powerful this new found success is for the players.

You go 7-1 after the bye and you KNOW things are headed in the right direction, that's the point of this second half.

Forget about winning when it matters. Yeah, that's it. Just win only when I feel my roster spot is in peril.

Just stale-mate, baby!
I knew we'd be a much better looking team in the second half of the season but it's basically a night-day difference. I don't think we can play with the best in the league or anything but maybe we're closer than we previously thought.

Quote:Glad to have you on board TMD!

On topic, I don't think we will all 4 of our final games.  If we can pull 2 out I'd be really happy.
agreed though all these games are winnable they are equally loosable, if we go 2-2 in the next 4 i call that a result plus i don't think that will hurt us majorly in terms of draft position especially if we loose to the texans thursday which given our home form is a fairly likely possibility

If we can keep each game within a score and remain competitive to the end of the season i would be happy if we ended the season 0-4 or 4-0

Start making prediction threads before the season from now on.
Wow...

Turns out, all the Jags have to do is win out and they're in. They hold tiebreakers over every other potential wildcard team

EDIT: Assuming all the other teams finish 7-9 as well, of course. Miami and Baltimore are the biggest threats, having to only win two of their next 4 to finish 8-8 and make the playoffs.

Wait, where did you see this? Because it cannot be right.

This season was planned from the start. Gus Bradley is a genius.

Here's the official explanation:
  • "6th Seed - Jacksonville

Wins tie break over NY Jets, Pittsburgh and San Diego based on best win percentage in conference games. Division tie break was initially used to eliminate Miami (NY Jets wins tie break over Miami based on best win percentage in division games). Division tie break was initially used to eliminate Baltimore (Pittsburgh wins tie break over Baltimore based on best win percentage in common games). Division tie break was initially used to eliminate Tennessee (Jacksonville wins tie break over Tennessee based on head-to-head win percentage)."
I just picked games that make every team finish with the same record. I don't believe it's mathematically possible for the Jaguars to win out and not finish with the best divisional record among the potential 6th seed wildcard teams.

EDIT: Note that if any of the teams finish with 8 wins, we're out. But they must get 8 wins if the Jags win out, or else the Jaguars are in. With the Titans, Texans, Bills, and Colts left to play, it's unlikely, but it's not outside of the realm of possibility.
