Think a lot of our problem is the lack of a consistent TE for the defense to worry about. Clay Harbor seems to have the speed and size to do it. Along with Sanders he should really get more focus in the gameplan.
Also, the amount of dink and dunk isn't terrible. Henne just rarely throws it in a way that is easy to catch on the run. This is the biggest problem our offense as a whole has. The accuracy for yards after catch just isn't there YET! Even mediocre ball placement would have us looking quite a bit better my friends
I wonder how much influence Gus had on him. He said during the post game press conference that he specifically told Fisch to stay aggressive.

Quote:There's way too much dink and dunk for my taste, but it certainly looks better against the competition we're facing.

If Gus wants to keep him around to see what he can do with a real QB then so be it.

There were plays when Henne had huge amounts of time in the pocket to make throws yet no one was open. Many times dunk and dunk was the only productive option.
Quote:I'm not sure on the ascending coach part, but I agree with your point that the franchise could really use some stability.  So long as Gus still believes in him, then I'm good with seeing what these guys can do with more talent.
Nothing but promotions over the last 10 years.  Young guy, creative mind.
Don't want him back next season.

it took half the season to finally get going and you want to start all over again?

So you want Gabbert and Henne back next year?

You cant blame Fisch is he doesnt have a good QB, give him a good QB good OL and all his weapons (i'm looking at you Blackmon) for a full season and then give him a real evaluation.

History is not a guarantee of future performance.  We'll find out in time.

No it's not, i'm justing pointing out that he is in ascension at this time.  I'm optimistic about him.  Give him a year with a real QB, and the rest of our offense comfortable in his system and i think he's got a shot to get us rolling.
He is starting to mix up the playcalling and "muddy the play sheet" (a term he used to describe his offense's play style) by calling seeming random plays not designed at just the first down markers but where the QB wants to go.

3rd and 5 and you are just as likely to see a deep bomb as you would on a 1st and 10 or 2nd and 15 etc etc. Not alot of easy to see tendencies. I think Bridgewater or McCarron with their mental ability and control of the playbook would be monsters in this choose what you want random offense. Especially Bridgewater who excels at fitting plays together with what the defense is doing like puzzle pieces.

Add to that if Blackmon could stay clean, geesh, this thing could turn around and a hurry.

Somebody actually watched the game. ^

No I don't want either of them back next year, hell I didnt want either of them back this year, where you're certain that it's only the QB why Fisch called 8-9 horrible games, I think its a combination of both.  I rather our new QB doesn't have to go a year in Fisch's system only for the team to realize he sucks next season, and [BLEEP] can him.

Two bubble screens back to back against the Browns. Neither were very productive. Claim he's shackled by poor QB play all you want (which I will not deny), but his playcalling has been less than creative so far this year.

One was a drop.  The next was good for 7 yards.  I see nothing wrong with the call.   The Browns only stopped that play once out of the 5 times he ran it.   I'd keep doing it too if they can't defend it.  Why not?

He should give himself a big pat on the back because the Browns were inept enough to not recognize the exact same formation as the previous play.

Too lazy to do the research, but out of however many times we've run that play, how many times has it been successful?

How many times has it been called on a 3rd & long?

I hate the screen.

LOL.  He flipped it to the other side of the field.  It was both a way to keep Cecil in the game after a drop and a slap in the face to the opposing defense.

Hate the screen all you want.  When Henne is your Qb and Bradfield is your LT  - the screen is your friend.  I thought it was hilarious that he called it like he did.  He was daring the Browns to stop it knowing they probably wouldn't.
I think the offense looks better the more Ace learns more of the play-book... he's now getting plays in the backfield, slot and on the edge... plus, I think, the Browns game was the 5th straight game where the same players on the OL played together... add that together with the running game improving and this will/should make the offense look better...
Is it improved play calling or improved execution
