Gratz actually had decent coverage on a couple plays where Gordon beat him, he just couldnt find the ball.

Its not a shame for rookies to get torched by a top 5 WR in the league though.

Gratz is a rookie. And he's only played in a handful of games, he's had his ups and downs as any rookie would
Quote:Gratz got abused yesterday. Hope he learns from that. The worst part is that Gordon is not a great receiver. He just had 2 good weeks. I think Gratz will end up a bust.

Quote:Gratz is the weak link in the secondary right now, but that's ok because he's a rookie. Cyprien is playing at an acceptable level and the combination of Winston/Evans is good enough for now. I said earlier in the game day thread I think that Gratz ends up out of position but that's correctable.

Bust? Weak link? Nah.

Gratz has been good this year. He didn't really have that bad of a game yesterday. He had the bad play on the sideline but that will happen to any corner. He did not give up the two long gains to Gordon. The 95 yarder was on Winston Guy.
The thing is tho is were giving up long plays because of poor angles/tackling, not nessacarly bad coverage so I'll give it a pass..

What I mean: Josh Gordon caught a 15 yard pass and went for 90+, Michael Floyd caught a 10 yard pass went for 90+..

Big difference in calling him a bust and saying he's the weak link right now. Being the weak link is understandable for a rookie that's had limited playing time, I'm not saying he will be a bust at all. Right now he's a little behind the rest of the secondary, I expect he will catch up by the end of the season.

I know. Those two posts jumped out at me, so I quoted both.

But he's not the weak link either. Blackmon has been the one getting torched lately. And Guy/Evans have missed tackles on the big gains.

And that's perfectly reasonable he's only played in 7 games. the other rookies that get significant time in the secondary have played in just about every game.

This could go down as the dumbest thing ever said on this message board.

Does your seeing-eye dog watch the games with you?
Only one that was bad was the firsht highlight on the NFL.com game review. Gratz lost the ball and was beaten badly at the snap anyways. Other than that he played very well was mostly in position just going up against a stud receiver.
Gratz has a chance to be special if he stays healthy and...you know what, I'm not even going to argue with the people says he is terrible. I'd be more productive banging my head against a wall
Gratz will be fine.  He got beat a few times by a great WR.  He'll get better from it.

Did anyone else notice Will Blackmon actually play Gordon pretty well on the TD pass?   He actually had his hand on the ball and Gordon just muscled it away.

Overall - the youngest secondary in the NFL is playing like it sometimes.  SHOCKER!!!!!

Ya, 2 longest TD passes in the league this season.  Ouch.

I agree with this.  Gordon is just an animal!
Alan Ball, Dwayne Gratz and Will Blackmon are all in the top 20 graded cornerbacks on PFF for what its worth.

Cox is 119th.

wow
Quote:They had a rough day yesterday.  Gordon is a stud, but Guy needs to make that tackle on the 95 yrd TD.  Growing pains.  They made the plays that kept us in the game.
He tunneled really hard on trying to make a big play. Although, if he did pick the ball off the game would've been over. That wasn't even the worst part, it was Gordon running past Cyprien and Gratz.

Caldwell +1

That is the thing.  If you take a gamble you better at least bat the ball down.  I mean Cyprien and Gratz weren't going to catch Gordon.  Right when Gordon started running I knew it was going to be a touchdown.

I would have rather Guy just made the tackle.
You guys forgot about that Houston game though.... I'm not saying we are perfect but they can hold up. Josh Gordon had some really big plays.
