Their stats and team record aren't much different, are they?

No thank you, not at all, Any pass past 30 yds floats up in the heavens before coming back down.

The problem with evaluating McCarron is that because of the NFL talents he plays with -- good OL, great defense and run game -- he normally doesn't lose Alabama their game. On the other hand, he is not sensational in most of their wins.
Basically, we don't really get to see his weakness, at the same time, it's really hard to gauge his strength.
My opinion is that he is just your average late round QB prospect.

That tattoo...I can't even consider him as a backup.

Exactly. It's really tough to isolate him. If he was playing on an average team and was able to elevate them, even despite losses (IE Teddy with Louisville) it would be much easier.

I can tell you this. His arm strength isn't going to wow anyone.

It is easy to nip pick on Manziel, Boyd, Bridgewater and Mariota, because they actually have to go out there and make things happen for their respective team.
It's so hard with McCarron because he won a lot of games and championships so one can't say he's a bad QB prospect. But he's not great either because his numbers suck

He can't make all the throws as people like to say.

I think someone will reach on him in the third or fourth like Colt McCoy was.

Colt was a 2nd round pick by the Browns.

I think often overthrowing receivers is a sign he has enough arm strength and just needs to work on timing it right. But I have only seen him play two games (LSU was the other one) this season and don't know anything about the Alabama receivers, so take it FWIW.
One thing is clear: AJM is strictly a pocket passer and with a good offensive line at Alabama, that is not a problem.

AJ is off my draft board. I have serious questions about a prospects decision making ability with a tattoo that bad.

The tattoo is hideous but I won't be googling him shirtless so I can live with it.

Our receivers will have more than enough time to get down field then. :turned:

Agreed, but so many of todays youth have an abundance of ugly and overly large tattoos, and/ or too many of them.
Tattoos can & do look good. But typical of a lot of todays youth, they take something good and make it terrible.
