Another poster put it perfectly. Evans is supposed to be on special teams and learning the D with the occasional snap in reg season time not playing FS in a defense that puts a ton of pressure on its deep safety to patrol a huge portion of the field over the top.
He along with Cyprien are brightspots IMO and the constant killing of the front 7 every drive doest hurt. Play action kills us because we can be ran on up the middle and obivously your secondary is goind to struggle if QBs have time to play a round of black ops in the pocket.
That said they do need to improve (cyprien as a 2nd rounder more than evans as a late rounder IMO) but i dont see Evans needing to lose snaps a teams roster fodder.

How is Josh Evans, the man who handed the Broncos game back to Denver with two major fouls on the same early 3rd quarter drive, a bright spot?
He's a late-round rookie who should be learning on special teams, but has instead been forced into a starting role. Instead, he's starting at free safety. Let's not kid ourselves: by NFL safety standards, he's terrible. That's not to say he'll always be terrible, but he certainly is right now. Plugging in Guy (over Prosinski, one can't help but notice) will buy him some time to learn and, hopefully, teach him some humility and respect for the game.

Do we need to be reminded what a terrible safety looks like?
Don Carey was terrible he wouldnt even be on the screen on passing plays. Chris Prosinski is terrible he can somehow lose a ball he has already locked onto in mid flight. Now Bender i do agree about him needing some time to learn some humility and get him focused on competing for a spot as he seemed to do his first few weeks when he was tipping passes and making solid tackles.
I think his only rip is getting too comfy in his starting spot when the coaches are working on by splitting his reps with another guy. He has gotten a bit complacent and i think this move will get him back in gear but he is by no means terrible. Subpar at worst and slightly below average at best but not terrible. He has at least broken up 2 Tds i have seen and made a handful of good tackles. For a late round rook thrown into a starting spot (against some good offenses/QBs btw) with a weak front 7 in front of him and rookies next to him in the secondary he could be alot worse IMO.
