Quote:Mom just being too busy to help me look for one!

Gainesville has an excellent bus system, you can't go to the pound (or where ever) on your own?
Quote:A beaver and a groundhog? Wow! They can be pretty vicious when cornered. When I was a kid, we had a Cocker Spaniel named Jock. He cornered a groundhog in the back yard and it lunged for him and took a chunk out of his neck. We had to rush him to the vet, but he was o.k. Your two must be very territorial. Do they get along with one another?

Yes, they get along great, and tag team prey like they were trained to do it.

Lady, in particular, is a ninja assassin. I witnessed the kitten kill, she was so fast there was no way to stop her.
I was an Australian Cattle dog named Dixie. I had many dogs over a years, but with life comes death. My wife has a little, yippy dog. One of those wiener looking dogs, but he's a mutt. She also has a micro pig. Crazy little thing.

Did you enjoy being an Australian Cattle dog? :woot:
Quote:As part of our rental agreement, my wife and I aren't allowed pets.

This really sucks because we are huge dog lovers!

Perhaps when we next move... which shold hopefully be sooner rather than later if our plans to extend our family run smoothly!

Do you like smaller dogs too, or just huge ones?

No, just huge ones.. the have to be taller than me.

Agreed. There is something about big dogs that I love. I will go a little smaller though. The smallest dog I've ever had was English Cocker Spaniel and he was like 35 lbs., so not too small. We had him for 16 years, but had to put him down after he developed cancer. He was a great dog. I'm not into really little dogs since they tend to be very noisy. I enjoy peace and quiet.

Do you really think cats are allowed on buses? LOL

Mom needs to be there with me anyway because we live together.

I see what you did there.

 Absolutely.

To go find one...you don't have to bring it home that day.

Strap it on top in a kennel.
Whenever it happens will not be soon enough. I wanted to adopt a cat in February.

One 16 year old Bichon Frise. Our 17 year old dachshund passed away last year. We'll get a rescue dog whenever the Bichon passes away. We don't want to introduce another dog into the home at her advanced age.

Wow, you are so lucky to have dogs live that long.
One dog.

Eleanor.

She's a Walker Coonhound/Beagle mix.  She went completely blind in 2013.

She looks very much like this dog only older:

Quote:How much dog food do you go through? I buy 40 lbs. every 3 weeks off of Chewy.com.

About 60 lbs. a month. She normally buys it so it may be a bit more or less.

The Bernese has mega esphagus issues. We have to wet his food and hand-feed it to him, so we try to keep him leaner than others.

If he needs wet food, the vet is supposed to prescribe cans instead of kibbles. My vet said if you put water on dry food it becomes mushy and the pet won't eat it.

You can't be real. You just can't.
Trolls don't read, they troll. I am looking to get a dog when I come back to the states, something medium size and an Aquarium, I love Aquariums. So I probably get African Cichlids.
