and if they keep winning I imagine that gap will keep increasing as their schedule the rest of the way is a little tougher.

So when FSU blows out miami by 30 FSU should be #2 again right?

I still believe Alabama is the lesser of the top 3 teams right now.  Unless they get upset, the voters and the "computer ranking system" are going to keep Alabama in the National Championship game.

It would be a shame if FSU -- imo is the best team right now -- isn't going to the National Championship game, even though they have the best all around team with the best college player in Winston.

If all three teams win out it will be Alabama vs Oregon. The Pac-12 >>>>>>> The ACC.

I'm afraid that would be the case, which is why the new system can't come early enough.

What's funny is that UF is still indirectly keeping them out of the title game due to their lackluster season. If UF is a top 15 team, a win could help boost their case. When the rest of your non-conference schedule is Nevada, Idaho and Bethune Cookman and you play in the ACC, the road to the NC is tough.
Honestly, at the end of the day, neither team's SoS is particularly impressive. However, I think FSU has the more talented roster and would put up more of a fight against 'bama. Here's what I don't get... FSU scores 35 points in the first quarter against NC State, blows them out, and still loses a spot to Oregon because Oregon beat an overrated UCLA team they were already favored to beat by 3 scores? This is why the BCS makes no sense. Playoffs can't get here soon enough.

I wouldn't take any team in college football over a Saban-coached one that has a month to prepare.
We'll get our chance at Bama...Oregon will lose at Stanford.

I think this FSU team has just as much or almost as much NFL talents as Alabama.

As I've said in another thread, the rating of an FSU-Bama NC game would be too great for the NCAAA to pass up on.
The VaTech loss to Duke hurt.  As did the Gators losses throughout the year.  The ultimate scenario would have been to beat Miami, beat a good Gator team, then beat a 1 loss Va Tech team in the conf championship.  As you recall Va Tech lost to Bama to start the season.

I'm not sold on Oregon.

Oregon will never lose to Stanford, you must be some kind of crazy!

That's what everyone said last year too when the game was in Eugene. Stanford hits people in the mouth, which is exactly what Oregon's weakness is.

Not sure FSU can do anything except hope Oregon loses. They play Stanford (top 10) and Oregon Sate (which gets way to much love for a team who lost to an FCS team).  The voters will give more love to Oregon than a FSU win over the 'Canes (which I hope does not happen) and a win over  very weak UF team. It is a grabage system and I would rather see FSU play bama than Oregon.... That powerless feeling is very frustrating!

Bingo. I did not see that coming, and now it's going to be even more difficult for FSU to get back to #2. I thought that FSU winning out over Miami, Florida, and Va Tech would give them the SoS boost to get over Oregon, but that just got a lot more diffcult to pull off.

Which is why Auburn beat them that year.I do think though that Oregon beats Stanford Saturday.

Oregon has a bye Saturday. They play Stanford next Thursday night.

Thanks to whatever genius scheduled that on a Thursday night.

Just like everything else in college football..driven by money and TV (which is the money)

Right, but one team has Jimbo Fisher. The other has Nick [BLEEP] Saban.

I certainly think FSU would be Bama's best competition since '09 Texas, though.

We need more marquee games like this on Thursday night.  I'm tired of the NCAA moving everthing to saturday night.
