He needs to be a Jaguar. Do what it takes to get him Caldwell. Then the real rebuilding process begins and you start to build around him. Teddy needs to be a Jaguar, the kid has so much potential to be great. He would help re-energize the franchise and bring new life at a time this team needs it as much as ever.

I would like to see Bridgewater in teal - but can we please not be delusional about it? A number of plays he's able to make at Louisville will never work in the nfl. I think he'll adapt fairly quickly - but let's not diminish the giant leap in defensive talent he'll face.
What plays does he run that elite qbs don't at the pro level. REMEMBER its not like he is surrounded by elite talent on the offensive side of the ball. He is a one man pro style wrecking machine. None of the read option bs that qbs have been getting away. No spread to this kid. Just straight up drop back, make the right reads, throw the right passes, do it what it takes at an elite level. Read Kodiak's analysis and watch some game film.

LOL. Thanks for setting me straight. I've watched the "game film." (can we stop calling it film?) My man, if you aren't able to understand that he'll have to step his game up against NFL defenses - I don't really know how to explain it. The Texans a'int the USF Bulls, dude.
Look - the offense they are running includes a healthy dose of short passes to the flats or over the middle less than 10 yards. The flats stuff will be FAR less effective against NFL defenses. Many of his short over the middle passes that he throws into tight college coverage would be batted down or picked in the NFL. Not to mention - he won't have as many open receivers downfield so often against NFL secondaries. I'm not saying he can't adapt - I think he will - but you are kidding yourself if you think he can just cruise in and keep playing the same way without a big dip in production. He'll face an adjustment period and make some mistakes. That's all I've been saying.
Jeesh - these Teddy homers are like rabid dogs in their defense of the guy sometimes. And I actually
like the kid! LOL.

Ok I think we're talking about two different things. Everyone knows that the speed of the game is different in the NFL and that Teddy will have to adjust accordingly. All I'm arguing, and have pretty much seen with my research on him, is that that adjustment will go smoothly as compared to other QBs.

You and I seem to agree there. "wiseman" - not so much.
Also - predicting how well or quickly these prospects will adjust is a pretty low percentage gamble. He looks well equipped - but I've been fooled before...
Quote: But he's maybe the single best player to come out at the most important position in sports (a position we happen to have dire need of) in the last 15 years.
Wow.
News to me, best since jughead, huh? That include Brady and Brees? Or Luck? Or Stafford?
And I'm hardly a Bridgewater hater.

OK my bad. I meant since the 2001 draft. Obviously he's not better than Manning or Brady at this stage. Don't pick apart my words.

Didn't have to. You said 15 years, so that's 1998 and Jughead. And who knows, he may yet be better than Jughead, but it's gonna be hard.
And your statement still says he's better than Brees, Stafford, Rivers, and Rodgers. And Roethlisberger. And 2 time SB champion Eli Manning. No way to prove it right now, but geez that's bold. And likely incorrect.

I stand by it. I wasn't familiar with football when those guys came out. I just know that from what I've seen, I think he's as good/MAYBE better than Luck, who supposedly was better than all those guys.

OK. Just remember that college career stats are not indicative of how well they will perform in the NFL.
Before Luck, the last guy that had his hype was Cam Newton. Both had all sorts of GOAT talk, both went first overall. I'd be happy if we selected Bridgewater and he played as well as either, but chances are better than even that someone selected after him will have a better career.
Not meaning to throw water on your theory, which may well be right, just letting you know that I've seen this before. Many, many times.
Quote:The defenses that he plays against are just as 'real' as the ones he go up against when he's a Buc or a Jag. I, personally, always root for the Jaguars to win. However, I know there is an extremely high likelihood that we won't win 2, maybe not even one game. Tanking for Teddy isn't a movement, it's a reality. We aren't good enough to get out of the top two picks.
I've watched about five of Teddy's games and scouted two of them extremely in-depth. He has the skills, technique, and traits to put this team on the right track. Will he immediately put us in contention? Of course not. But he's maybe the single best player to come out at the most important position in sports (a position we happen to have dire need of) in the last 15 years.
Just as "real"? Really???? Really??? Not sure how to respond----

I like him too, but god forbid anyone on here says there is a chance we dont become instant contenders if we draft him.

I really like Bridgewater. He's easily the tops of this upcoming QB class and no one else is close.
That said, he's comparable to but not better than Luck. Not even "maybe better" than Luck. My opinion, anyway.
Luck had everything Bridgewater does, AND is taller/ more solid build and actually has some decent running skills. Gives him the edge.
Sam Bradford might have saved our season. The Buccaneer can beat the Rams without Bradford, who gives them the best chance to win. Bills are on the come up, but are very beatable. Especially with the Bucs playing the Bills at home

I forgot about Bradford.
His hype was on a par with Bridgewater, too.
You guys are simply ignoring what he does in the field
Quote:I forget- How long did Mcnair sit and learn after being drafted? Go ahead look it up ill wait. Too many on here think Bridgewater is Andrew Luck 2.0!
He may not be Luck 2.0, but he us the best option to turn around this team next season.
The debate of who is the #1 qb is a mute point. If Bridgewater was on UCLA they would be up a touchdown or two.
So tired of hearing about luck. He's around the 18th-20th best qb this year. I hope Bridgewater is better than that.
