Quote:So tired of hearing about luck. He's around the 18th-20th best qb this year. I hope Bridgewater is better than that.Luck is top 10 and depending on how well he does in the playoffs could be knocking at the door of top 6-5.
I do think Bridgewater can be that good though.

Tebow cut up the SEC. Level of competition is for casual fan kids.

By the end of this season, Luck will be one of the best 6 or 7 QB's in the league.
I think Bridgewater has a similar ceiling to Luck, though he may not be quite as good. Then again, he could be better. Who knows. Either way, Teddy will be a damn good quarterback at the next level. God, I hope he's ours.

Yes, Teddy is far superior to Stephen Morris.
Thank you for this perspective.

Luck would be out clear choice of GMs of who to select #1 if they were starting a franchise today.

Quote:Seeing way too many on here thinking Bridgewater is going to come in and fix everything!! I enjoy watching him play, great qb against lesser teams. Not ONE PERSON on these boards knows how he will fare against pro teams with real defenses, so this tank for Teddy crap is getting old! What happens if we pick 1, and he comes in and looks like Gabbert in 3 years? Do we try to tank for the next "big thing"?
You won't ever get a franchise QB if you never draft one. So yes, if we take arguably the best QB and he ends up tanking, then you take another one. And another one. And another one until you find the franchise QB. You can't be scared to draft a QB high just because he may fail.

I think Manziel could be available there in 2nd.

Lol Gabbert to Manziel? Your fandom requires medication.

So just looking at Teddy's game vs "lowly" UCF, I decided to look at how UCF's defense had been vs other QB's throughout the year.
QB's against UCF have gone for an average of:
61.29 completion percentage
187 yds per game
7.2 YPA
0.33TD's/0.66INT's per game
Teddy's line against UCF:
29/38 (76%)
341 yds
8.9 YPA
2TD/0INT's
Say what you want, but UCF's defense has been OK against the pass and Teddy shredded them. Not just dinking and dunking either. The YPA shows that he's not just taking short passes all the time. I understand this is a very stat-whorish post, but they are good for something.
For this year total Teddy is:
179/246 (73.7%)
2557 yds
10.5 YPA
23TD/2INT - 2.8TD's/0.25INT's per game
Peyton Manning in his last year at Tenn was:
287/477 (60.2%)
3819 yds
8 YPA
36TD/11INT - 3.3TD's/1INT per game
Mariota so far this year is:
144/225 (64%)
2281 YDS
10.1 YPA
20TD/0INT - 2.5TD's/0INT's per game
Teddy's averaging almost 40 yards per game more than Mariota, and almost 1 TD more per game. Not to mention is 10% higher completion percentage.
Mariota may have better legs for running the read option, but Teddy is the more complete QB. If Teddy = Luck, and Mariota = RG3, then I'm taking Luck/Teddy. Every time.

Mariota had his worst game as a passer against the worst passing defense in the FBS. Barely over 100 yards passing and completed 44% of his passes.

No idea, didn't watch the game just was looking at some stats for the top draft guys and found it interesting. With a stat line that bad I wouldn't doubt it.

I think it was. The field looked like a community swimming pool and all the players were playing water polo.
