I'm not sure what the rush is to define JB's ceiling.  He's really good now and likely to really show it with a better QB at some point down the road.

I, for one, am fine with waiting for that to happen.  I just hope he stays healthy, sober and a Jaguar for a long, long time.

Quote:What? Your telling me Dez and Green dont get open deep on go routes?

Im done here, you guys took my original statement of "Blackmon cant win deep on go routes, which is needed for an elite WR" and turned it into whatever you wanted to. Typical jags MB.

Ok well why do you believe he can't win deep on go routes?

But its NOT NEEDED to be elite.

I agree but this became more about what you need to be elite than about Blackmon.

Because I dont think hes that fast. You guys apparently do. Cool. Heres a question for you all, is he faster than Cecil? Cecil can run by DBs, JB cant. That being said I think JB is a better all around WR.

Ive said here I think he can be a top 15 WR and I get attacked because I think he cant run by CBs in 1 on 1s, which IMO is needed to be considered "elite". There are very few exceptions.

Anquan Boldin is the comparison everyone uses and I think he can be that type of player for us. He needs to show the ability to make tough contested catches though, which he hasnt done all that much of yet.

Would you say Boldin is elite ?

I hear ya'.  Probably an even more pointless debate since everyone tends to have their own definition on what the term  "elite" means.

Since we are here though  -   I think JB has a good shot at reaching "elite" status when he has a better talent passing him the ball.  And he's just fast enough to do it.

It's his physicality that will get him there, IMO. When you can fight for the ball in good coverage like he does and grind out YAC consistently - you don't require as much flat out speed.

As in a top 5 WR at any point in his career? No.

He is 33rd on the all time receiving yards list.  Seems pretty elite to me.

Exactly.. Marshall, Boldin, maybe Alshon Jeffrey if he keeps playing the way he is..point is your right.

Wait you mean being 33rd all time in NFL out of the thousands and thousands of players to play doesn't make you elite?

He's absolutely shown the ability to do exactly that.  He's done it a number of times actually - (though a couple of them came during the preseason.)

He hasn't done it as consistently as you or I would like - but I have hope that will come with experience.

Blackmon's speed is fine, he's not a burner but you still don't have to be to win one on one on a go route.

This guy gets it... go back and watch the Denver game.. you don't catch 14 passes and have non of them contested.

Not to mention the fact that it's hard to rack up loads of contested catches when you consistently have good separation.
Careful guys, Jinjo might feel "attacked."

Certainly not my intention.  His opinions are as valid as anyone else's.   We just have a bit more respect for JB's game than he...

Yep and if you play the slot your gonna get hit and hit a lot.

Not mine either but I'm not gonna agree for the sake of peace lol.
Jinjo has been doing his hardest to make a name for himself by downplaying everything Blackmon has done since he arrived.

Make a name for yourself, kid, make a name for yourself on this humble message board.
