Oehser sounds about right to me.  How many of us have repeatedly been saying this o-line would still hinder a quality QB's production?  That's what he's saying.

I mean, Rackley is not good at all, Meester is basically 2 years past his prime and struggling, and Bradfield is horribly inconsistent and gave up sacks on back to back plays the other day.  I don't care who's back there - they might keep it closer on the scoreboard  - but they won't win many.

Context Schmontext! LETS GET MAD BRO! I'm selling all my Jaguar stuff on Craig's List!!!!

This league has really always been about the QB. Of course there are some outlier seasons (Ravens of 2000 and Bucs of 2001) but in large part, the teams that consistently win are the teams with Elite QBs. The best way to get a franchise QB (NOT THE ONLY WAY) but probably the best way is to pick high in the draft.

Teddy (from many analysts) is the second highest rated QB in the last 10 years behind the god son Luck. I would absolutely love to have that.

Craigslist??  Dang.  I wish I'd thought of that before I burned all of mine.   :teehee:

I just found it odd that the OP twisted Oehser so badly...

Quote:OP:   Oehser doesn't think a top 15 QB will make this Jaguar team that much better
=/=

Quote:Oehser:  A Top-15 quarterback definitely would help, and it would get the Jaguars to the point of competitiveness.

...and then folks tried to make it seem like he was "preparing" readers for a particular Caldwell draft strategy   -   Which is really ridiculous, IMO.  Do people actually think that he's remotely privy to something like that?  Something that Caldwell undoubtedly has ideas about - but is still likely very "up in the air."  Unlike a bunch of the geniuses around here - Caldwell and his staff of scouts are going to do their due diligence on the 2014 draft.  You know- the one that is SEVEN FLIPPIN' MONTHS AWAY!!
It's funny how some with agendas will misinterpret something to push their viewpoint.
Quote:Sure they rebounded quick.. All 3 of those teams, minus their selected qb, were already in better shape than the Jags though. This team is in dire need of O-line help. We don't wanna serve up our #1 pick on a silver platter to opposing defenses..

Quote:Actually, he was. Colts turned over 27 different pieces (players) to that roster. And, that's not even including the coaching and management changes they made.

,,,,as if the Jaguars ALSO wouldn't be replacing/ upgrading in other areas as well??

Newsflash, even if the Jags draft Teddy B. this upcoming season, there will still be upwards of 15+ new players next season.

So, yes, with the addition of a Teddy Bridgewater level QB, this team easily could be a playoff contender next season.

We aren't just adding Teddy and thats it.

All depends on the talent acquired next year, how far this new qb next year can take this team..

This is my thoughts. Right now if you dropped Teedy B plug and play style into the games so far in our season we are likely 2-5 or 3-4 and not 0-7 which is great improvement to me.

Its true he wont turn the entire franchise around and even the Colts added more than Luck (Hilton and Allen/Fleener were a big part of it too) but we also will likely have pick #33 for Bradley to get his own LEO pass rusher and then we have extra picks in other rounds as well.

Address the guards in FA, Draft Teddy #1 then take BA TE (Ebron) or any defensive position at #33.

Time to bring some excitement back in Jacksonville!

I don't know if Ebron is going to make it to the Second Round after his game last week, but I get your point. I would really like the team to follow in the mold of those that utilize two threats at the TE position.
Quote:Who cares what ozone says? He said this was a playoff roster last year.

Making stuff up is fun, huh?    The O-zones are archived.  I'd love to see you go prove that little gem.

Yes, I know that. And, as special as Luck is (and I am of that mindset), just adding him alone would have been an improvement, but not as great as it was, just my opinion.

I was only responding to the "Let's not act like Luck was a piece of the puzzle." Because, technically, he was.
Adding Teddy Bridgewater would be "adding a piece to the puzzle." It'd be a great addition, but there's still a lot of pieces to this puzzle needed to bring this team back to relevance, Just my opinion.

Yes, but it would without question be the most important piece.

And as several of us have been trying to tell those of you with opinions like the quoted....the Jags are going to be adding the other pieces too. This is happening independent of any Bridgewater addition.

Likely be a defensive player at #33. Bradley doesnt want to be rolling with Branch as the Leo next year and Babin is likely not with us as at all. Much like the secondary this past draft i expect us to load up on D-lineman who fit the scheme with a higher importance placed on DE than DT. Probably a DE at 33 than a TE with one of the 4ths and a DT with the other. OG, OLB and RB with the 5th round picks. Big lanky press cover CB / safety with the 6th and BAP with the 7th (probably special teams or maybe another DT).
Quote:He's actually been openly critical this week.  How could he not be?   How could one possibly gloss over that chargers game?  Impossible.

Not really towing much of a line there....  ^

That's a breath of fresh air. He's usually so conservative with his answers that it gets boring after awhile
Keep in mind John O is an idiot, and has never been right on anything. Seriously.
If we don't take a QB with the 1st overall pick then when will we? I don't think I can stomach another season of Ghenne.

Quote:What do you think?  If we had a top 15 QB do you think this team would be on the cusp of the playoffs?

We still don't have a guy on defense that can put up double digit sacks.  We still don't have a true shut down corner.  Our LB's are meh.  Our DT probably wouldn't start on most NFL teams.

Over on offense our running back has yet to rush for more than 80 yards in a single game.  We lost 2 of our best offensive linemen.  Meester is retiring after the season.  We have a TE that hasn't done anything since 2010 which was a complete fluke.

At first glance I disagreed with Ozone, but after thinking about it.....I'm not sure a top 10 QB would make this team that much better.  We would have to score 35 or more points every single game just to have a chance.
John Oesher is an idiot and the ozone sucks.  He answers most of the dumbest questions people ask.  He is a company line man so expect him to back whatever way the organization goes.

I use to read the ozone until he started answering the most moronic questions instead of focusing on football.

John Pancakes or waffles?

John:  Waffles.

Wrong Ozone is. Vic he is not.

Except, of course, that he doesn't. He's been negative about the team plenty of times in the past - he's even explicitly addressed the question of how free staff are to do that.

I suspect the problem here is that you don't understand why he's answering those moronic question.
