Quote:At times, the team looks like they can compete with anyone, and other times (most), they look totally inept. I know most of that is talent level, but one has to wonder how much of it is coaching.

I was hoping to just use this year to evaluate the talent that Caldwell drafted, and with LJ's injury, most of the focus is on Cyprien, and he has played spotty.

I haven't been a fan of the coaching to this point, though the talent is so abysmal I don't look too far into it. An important thing for me is that we finally are playing with some intensity and passion, which is good to see. We really need to be more disciplined though.

The thing keeping me excited is the thought of how JB and CS3 will look with a real QB.

Yes and lets not forget Mike Brown, who has constantly improved since we picked him up in UDFA. I also enjoy seeing Cyprien lay the wood. Sure, he's a liability in coverage but man he is a headhunter and I like it.

With the possible exception of the first quarter of the Rams game the Jaguars haven't been competitive at all.

You're seeing things through teal glasses.

Also the Broncos game was not competitive. It was obvious the Broncos didn't take the Jaguars seriously and rightly so. Even having a massve turnover deficit they were easily taking care of the Jaguars.

The Jaguars are the worst team I've ever seen take an NFL field.

If you read any of my fine literature, you will know I am the last person to ever wear teal glasses.

At times yesterday, our offense actually looked good, but never closed the deal. In my opinion, the offense played better than the 6 points on the stat sheet.
Losing mostly hurts me because I have a son who has been to a half dozen Jaguar games and has yet to see a win. I hate hearing him ask me if the Jaguars will ever be good again.

We actually have a game going called "Turnover on downs, Field Goal or Interception" whenever we got near the red zone. Usually Turnover on Downs wins.
Quote:Why should fans of any NFL team think we must choose between present and future success instead of want both? That will never make any sense to me.

You don't get it.  Right now the choice is to be the #31 best team or the #32 best team.  I'll take being #32 and the #1 pick.  We're not choosing between present success because at the end of the day, having 1 or 2 wins in which teams rest thier starters at he end of the year does not constitute success.
I still think the helmets are garish and lame.

No, I watched the game last night on my DVR and saw a bunch of checkdowns and dump offs on offense through the first three quarters and a defense that could look like it was playing well when the bolts were being conservative, but every time 3rd down came along and the chargers needed to get a play they went ahead and got that play.

The Jaguars are awful.

The offense is awful, the defense is awful.

The Chargers are a middle of the road team this season and they handled the Jaguars easily after flying 2000 miles for a 10am (CA time) game.
I can't recall a single play from the home games.  I just go and get hammered...then leave.

Yes we are awful. I will never argue that.

The Chargers however are not a middle of the road team.

They are good on offense. (top 5)

They are bottom 10 on defense.

They entered the game 3-3.

They're a middle of the road team. They're not a bottom feeder like the Jaguars. They're not a contender like the Seahawks.

It is early in the season, and they lost a couple games by 3 points or less I believe. Unfortunately for them, they play in a division with 2 of the best records in the league. They probably won't make the playoffs, but I would certainly consider them an above average team.

kinda sounds like Darius huh?....now where did I remember hearing that description of Cyrpien before?...... :whistling:

I quit abusing my child.  I now give him the option to stay home or go to the game.

Hideous helmets that fits the teams personality.

then, what are they?? :ermm:
Well the Chargers did just beat the Colts who just beat the Broncos pretty convincingly.  I would say they are a pretty darn good team.

The offense looked pretty good yesterday.  Except they can't score TDs.  That is what is so frustrating.  Score some damn touchdowns please.

The Jags are still on tv?? I think I've watched all of one half of Jaguar football because I wanted too. I'm already at the point where I watch real football teams play, and looking at NCAA QBs.

Next year he can bring his Xbox controller to games. Im sure Khan has some marketing scheme to get people to attend..like being able to play Xbox on the brand new, record breaking TVs instead of watching. You can rent out time, like the people who put out announcements. Then he can go slip n sliding in the new pool.
