Dave Godwell was clearly the mastermind of that franchise.

I guess losing your superstar WRs and starting running back had nothing to do with it.
Falcons defense sucks. They are alright on offense. No pass rush, no pass coverage are bad combination.

Well, I was just being facetious with this thread but Roddy and Julio did just go down recently. Not like they haven't played all season.

The Falcons did not look that great with both of their WRs playing. The defense in Atlanta is on a good day very average.

As I have been saying for years....Mike Smith is overrated and isn't all that great. Wasn't all that great here, either.

They went the wrong direction with Steven Jackson.  Roddy White has been hurt all year.  Julio is now hurt.  Gonzo is decrepit. The GM is still GM -- Caldwell wasn't the main decision maker in ATL.

Steven Jackson does make sense if you think your close to being SB contenders. Obviously it didn't work out with the injury. Not the Gms fault roddy and Julio are hurt either. And sure Gonzalez is old for football standards but he is still getting it done. Definitely wouldn't call him decrepit.
A decrepit Gonzalez is better than 90% of TE's in the NFL.

Slow down Tonto...

Caldwell wasn't the Heart Beat of the franchise...

NH3...

If he really is that great, why are we 0-6?

lol...trick question.
As much as the Bucs have struggled this season,    I'm going out on the limb predicting them to upset the Falcons today.       The main reason is the Falcons injuries.       I can't think of any team that is dealing with a worse injury situation than Atlanta is currently dealing with.      Even if the Falcons beat the Bucs,   it's hard to envision them getting back into the playoff race.

For the most part,   Tony Gonzalez is the Falcons only relatively healthy weapon at the skill positions.      The Bucs should make it priority # 1 on Defense to attempt to limit Gonzalez'  impact.

Reminds me so much of the Jags two years ago. Something like 17 players on IR to finish the season.
Hmm, this is why you don't trade up?

I hope Caldwell doesn't follow in Atlanta's footsteps for our front office, they've made some horrible moves the past few years. Atlanta is pretty much the Anti-Seattle mold to building a franchise. Trading up for big players, signing older veterans, pretty much building for the short term.

Just throwing bait into the water to see what's biting.  I think Caldwell has done a decent job so far, given the talent situation he walked into.  I'd like to see a couple more moves that define his expectations in a players intelligence and temperament.  Dumping a DE who is prone to stupid penalties, for example.
The Falcons busted on a lot of picks and thought they were one or two players away from getting to the SB. They are the 2008 Jaguars now.

I wouldn't mind seeing that. Babin getting too many penalties and not enough sacks. But, not sure anyone would give us a pick for him. After all, we did get him off waivers.
