This was more than a terrible trade.  Our single biggest problem just got a lot worse.  Any quarterback we might draft will fail behind a line that cannot protect him.  Any running back we have will fail if we have a line that cannot block for him.  Does anybody think we can find a replacement for Monroe with a 4th and 5th pick?

If you wanted to make a plan that would result in the teams total failure so as to make a move to another city more probable this is it...

1.  The 2013 draft--  Win.  So far you have to be pretty happy with the players he brought in at face value.  I'm not saying it'll stay that way, but so far I think the rookies are progressing as much as can be expect on such a low caliber team.

2.  The Monroe trade-- Lose.  Even in the best case senarios we gave up a LT without even really trying to negotiate with him, at least that's how it apppears to me.  Second, from the twitter reporting, Caldwell didn't really shop Monroe but just bit at the first offer for him?  Just a whole lot of lazy GM'ing right there.

Conclusion:  We'll know about Caldwell after another few years.  Still too early to annoint him anything other than a new GM that made some mistakes but potentially is a good talent evaluator.  Hopefully he continues to learn and he picks the QB that will take us to the promised land.

Don't need to replace Monroe, might need to replace the right tackle, and yes you can do that with a 4 or 5. Maybe you even trade the 4&5 for a 3.

Your last sentence is just stupid.
The best trade in Jaguar history was when we traded Rob Johnson to Buffalo for the 9th pick in the draft of 1998.  Its not even up for debate.

Haha, I actually did steal your avatar. I apologize. It was the coolest picture of Cyp I could find - I'll change it eventually.
While I am coming around to drafting teddy first. my question is this....

With Teddy being a Junior could he not come out of college and elect to stay in rather than play for Jacksonville? Same for Clowney.

Not saying this would happen but in theory couldn't he say "Hey jags if you draft me I will sit out a year rather than play for you so either don't draft me or trade the pick."

So tanking for teddy might work it also might not.

I highly doubt that. Getting to throw to Blackmon, Shorts, and Sanders. Would be a treat. Not many got three potential Wr. That can be very good.

9th overall + a 4th rounder to be exact....

Some of the people on this board I guess would have been happy as a pig in slop had that Rob Johnson trade netted just the 4th rounder though, I guess.
Please just stop with the " Genius " label. If Caldwell selects the talent that has us in the playoffs and contending for division titles in 2 years... I might just say "GENIUS". We're 0-4 right now, the most I see us winning is maybe 2 games, No more " Genius" labels until it's deserved.

Haha good times. Typical MB fashion.
Caldwell will be fired very soon:

Free agent garbage- Hayes, Ball, Deadrick, Marks, Miller

Takes a saftey over a CB 2nd round

Takes a bum CB over a starting guard 3rd round

Trades Monroe for nothing

Writing is on the wall Caldwell.

So easy a caveman can do it.
Facetious Friday, I see.

I'm not sure that he'll be fired soon....probably not, considering he has a 5 year deal...

but the above lists some questionable decisions.

I also forgot to list Fisch.

I will say the defense looks decent but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

In my mind he'll be fired very soon...TMD.

Quote:hELLO, hELLO? search the board before creating a thread  how about it. As you can see I was the first to anoint the Caldwell as Genius.

I must be recognized!!!http://jungle.jaguars.com/index.php?/top...-a-genius/

Recognition granted.

Why would you list Fisch?  He can't go throw, catch, run, block etc... Until we get better offensive players it is what it is.  I've heard our various OC's heads being called for for 5 years now.  What's the common denominator? Talent

Ball is actually playing better than anyone expected and doing so banged up.  Marks has been earning his keep just fine.

Deadrick , Miller, Hayes..... meh

That bum CB might very well turn out to be very good.  I wouldn't write him off completely due to an injury he should come back from in a couple weeks.

I think TMD created another account so he could agree with himself.

LOL.  I don't actually think that's true, but now that you mention it.....

 - in all seriousness - there may be a bit of overreaction going on but the Jags didn't really get great value for Monroe in the deal.
