Quote:I'd rather just let this year keep on being terrible to ensure the Jaguars get Bridgewater.

I know the bib wearers will scream and cry over it, but the last thing I want is to win a couple of meaningless games. At least with Gabbert we can be sure we'll be good at getting great draft position. Someone else could mess that up.

This. Gabbert the best thing that's happening to us right now. Don't need another season like when we missed Luck
Quote:Tecnically Jamarcus Russell has fewer passing yards per game than Gabbert, so you could make the argument that Gabbert is only the second worst QB in NFL history.  Gotta give Gabbert a few more starts to get into that top position..

After what I saw today, Russell was better than Gabbert. About the only QB worse than Gabbert is Tebow. And  I'm not even 100% sure of that. Its one thing to be a bad. Its another thing entirely to be downright uncompetitive.

This is a serious time for the Jaguars. If Gabbert continues to start not only do you sink a season. You potentially sink a franchise.

I can remember being on this board when Leftwich and Garrard were ripped endlessly by Jaguar fans. Those QBS on their worst days were not as bad as what I saw today.

As a Colts fan I have never been so at ease in my life with our defense on the field. There literally was zero anxiety with regard to the Jaguars scoring a TD. It was one of the strangest sports feelings ever as a fan of the Indianapolis Colts.

Why not just go with Tebow.  He would at least make things interesting.  Gabbert and Henne are both a joke.  Why not at least make the games watchable with Tebow.

Tebow of course.  If he is as bad as everyone says, then he'll guarantee us the first pick in the draft.  And just think how interesting the team becomes immediately!

Quote:Tebow of course.  If he is as bad as everyone says, then he'll guarantee us the first pick in the draft.  And just think how interesting the team becomes immediately!
My point exactly.  If he truly is this bad we will still get the first pick.  And at least it would make the games worth watching.  Right now with Gabbert and Henne there is no reason to watch.
I will post this again. The answer is obvious. Vince Young is in great playing shape and dying to get another chance at starting after his treatment by Jeff Fisher. Look at the ranks of Young, Tebow, and Gabbert for comparison.

Total QBR:

ESPN has gone back and calculated Total QBR from 2006 onwards, so now we have career Total QBR for the majority of active QBs. I went ahead and ranked all active QBs who have starting experience. For those whose careers started before 2006, I had to estimate their Total QBRs since 2006 based on the year-by-year data. Those estimates have an asterisk next to them. Current starters are in italics. Unsigned free agents are in bold.

Total QBR explained (from ESPN website):

The Total Quarterback Rating is a statistical measure that incorporates the contexts and details of those throws and what they mean for wins. It's built from the team level down to the quarterback, where we understand first what each play means to the team, then give credit to the quarterback for what happened on that play based on what he contributed.

where is jevan snead these days

Quote:At least this way Scott gets game time reps to develop into a solid backup for Bridgewater.

Starting Gabbert is a waste...He's not on this team next year.
 agree 100%
I was afraid it would happen but there is no denying it now; Gabbert is ruined.  The boy can't think on his feet.  The minute his first option crumbles he runs like he's escaping a burning building.

Quote: agree 100%

Yeah, throw Scott out there and Gabbert him too.
Quote:Let me add on...

Potential to be the worst QB ever.

Wait... He has already accomplished that.

Only JaMarcus worse than the GABSTER with the amount of starts. He'll pass him in a few more starts.

Oh boy John Skelton is over Gabbert LOL
Quote:Yeah, throw Scott out there and Gabbert him too.
More mobile...quicker release....and hopefully not scared to death in the pocket. Get himn some reps to be a good Teddy back-up

A rookie behind that line is a recipe for shell shock.

Take the risk. It's better than rolling the dice that Gabbert will come out of coma.

Then play Stanzi with Scott as #2..anything but this garbage. Now I have a 6 hour drive back to Atlanta to get more crazy about how bad we looked...lol
In my objective opinion, I vote for Tebow.

I don't think you know what objective means...

Honestly lets just sign Tebow and roll with it. We tank because he's terrible and get Teddy and the rednecks get to watch their hero. Everyone wins.
