I am comparing the 2013 Jaguars with the 1976 Buccaneers. I was going to compare them with the 2008 0-16 Lions, but that team actually scored points.

I will be looking at first half points to filter out garbage time scores. If a team goes into halftime down by 20, and loses the game by 20 or more points (which the Jaguars have accomplished in all three games), then I think it's fair to say the entire second half can be considered "garbage time." I may have to adjust the metric as the season progresses, but let's see how things play out. The tally will include the Jaguars first 14 games.

Through three games, first-half point totals are:

2013 Jaguars: 5

1976 Buccaneers: 6

The 2013 Jaguars are currently in the lead for Worst NFL Offense* of All-Time.

Definitely have a problem with the interior OL and QB. Doesn't help that Lewis and Blackmon have been out. Not sure if MJD has any left or zoneblocking isn't a fit for him. Can't tell if its playcalling or execution, probably both. Denard has been poorly used.
Keeping "garbage time" points is a lot more credible than throwing out 2nd half points all together.

If it wasnt for Paul's interception than MoJo never would've been able to run it in (2 yards), and the garbage points after the SeaHawks had everyone off the bench in the game (I thought they were going to put the SeaHawk bird in against us) it was a very sad game to watch.... The 3 one in a row that has me almost falling asleep in the game.  If only we were good at least one thing (defense or offense) than I could say well we suck but we are rebuilding , but to be horrible on both sides of the ball is so hard to watch this year.
53 One-way tickets to London please!!!

Not even close to the worst team in NFL history, lol.
Or could it be just a tougher schedule. We will see tonight.

True but I beleive in this team's effort to try...

We're definitely a 2nd half team.  When we're down by 30 and the opposing 2nd team comes in, we compete pretty well.   Although, I must admit ... that dang Tavaris Jackson is great.  He'll be a star somewhere when he gets a chance.  Just look at his highlights against the Jags.

At least somewhat close.

Care to actually read the post? Or extrapolate?

lol

I think it's pretty darn credible the way it is. None of the 76 Bucs' first three games were blowouts going into the half. 7-0, 6-0, etc. So I don't think their opponents were resting starters -- it's only fair.
The Jags lost some ground on the punting record Sunday. The NFL record is 114 punts in a season, which averages out to 7.125 punts per game. The Jags only punted 7.00 times.
This brought the Jags average down to 8.667 punts per game.

We'll never get this record if the opposing teams keep pulling their starters in the 2nd half. Sad
I would only consider the 4th quarter down by 21+ garbage time.

You know how many 4th quarter comebacks Brett Favre had?? Should those not count for their offense?

They obviously were still in the game if they made a comeback.  There's no doubt the Jaguars were out of the game after about half way through the second quarter.

I'm tracking the 1st half drives as well.  One must also note that this is a pass happy league in which all of the rules have been changed to favor the offense.  Thus, our 5 points is a lot worse than the Bucs 6 points -- It would be nice to see that the league scoring average was in 1976 vs 2012 & 2013 so far.

new coaching strategy ... give up a quick 24 points so we can get the opposing 2nd team in as quick as possible.

The Packers were not going against the 2nd string in those games.

More like 3, considering 2 of those points were scored on special teams :/
