Quote:What good does starting Henne do right now anyway? I am a BB5 critic, but until highly paid WR's can catch balls that hit their hands, BB5 remains the starter.
That's true. Bortles has not been helped this year at all.

Arob can't get PI called for him ever and has drops. Hurns also has some drops.

It seems when one thing is actually corrected two other issues pop up with this team.

Henne would just add more issues.

Hurns has had some very critical drops. I would even argue they were game changing drops. Hurns has not really panned out since he got paid and is showing signs of why he was undrafted.

It would give us something new to [BLEEP] about, if you count that as good.

I'd rather watch BB5 throw 5 pick 6's a game than Henne on his best day.

Quote:Bart Scott has had it out for Bortles ever since he got in front of a camera.

Like every chance he gets he talks about his garbage time stats and his awful play.

As a former Raven, I imagine he isn't too fond of the Jaguars in general either.

Thanks for the info about Bart Scott's past criticism of Blake Bortles.  I wasn't aware of it.

This raises a question.  What has been the response by Boomer Esiason,  Bill Cowher,  and the others on the NFL Today program when Scott has been highly critical of Bortles?

Blackmon - 200+ yards 2 tds.

Maaaaaan....

I remember the ol "Lock him up now, pay the man" crowd...

And I was all like "no reason to jump on signing these guys just yet... plenty of time"

and everyone was like "naaah gotta pay him with ARob contract"

now I'm all like

Rolleyes

I would say their criticism of his play has always come off as true analysts. As in "If Bortles improves, this team could go to the playoffs" As Esiason said before this season.

I'm not saying Bortles doesn't deserve criticism. I'm just saying Bart Scott has always come off as a moody unprofessional. But maybe his "style" is something CBS is looking for in balancing different personalities and such.

Jags probably still lost that game.
Quote:Seriously, as badly as Blake is playing if Henne is any worse then he should not even have a backup job in the NFL.  So why are the coaches so against pulling Bortles when he is obviously completely out of sorts.  Give him a game or two off.  It is not like we could be much worse.

You don't seem to understand.  Blake Bortles > Chad Henne.  You play the better player.

I'm the type of NFL fan who can't stand the sensationalism approach that Bart Scott appears to be using.  I'll take substance any day of the week.

Until reading your reply earlier today,  I had no idea of Scott's history regarding Blake Bortles.   If I was aware of it,  I probably wouldn't have posted the link.    I agree with you that Blake Bortles deserves criticism for his play.  Yet,  there's no question that Scott could have presented facts w/o looking to make headlines.
