Yuck.
Not much this year, we're just having a small get together.

Already made Amish Bread.

going to make Pumpkin pies with the kids later today.

Then going to make:

Turkey

Mashed Potatoes

Stuffing

Broccoli with cheese

Macaroni and Cheese

Sweet potatoes

and that's it really.  Just going to be me, my wife, our five kids, my sister-in-law and her daughter.  Everyone else who usually comes for Thanksgiving is going somewhere else.  Making a lot of pumpkin pies though, because undoubtedly people will visit Friday and want a piece.

I'm taking it easy this year. I'm frying a Cajun turkey while drinking a big bottle of Moscato. I ain't doin' nuthin' else.

Indeed. I ate one for the first time about 10 years ago and never went back to traditional.
I've got 32 people coming over we cook two birds one fried and one in the oven. I do 20lbs of fresh mash potatoes by hand, about 4 dozen rolls and 40ish ears of corn. The family brings drinks and side dishes. Then we watch football have a fire in the pit and drink. I love Thanksgiving my favorite holiday by far.

Oh and we all fit in the 12ft by 5ft dinning table I had customer built just for Thanksgiving dinner
We will have a small gathering of completely dysfunctional relationships where we will argue at the top of our lungs about politics and economics, feelings will be hurt, people will be angry at each other, one person (not me) will do 99% of the talking, refusing to yield the floor to anyone else, and everyone will go home totally [BAD WORD REMOVED] off.  This after my wife labors for hours and hours on getting the meal just right.

Then for the next few weeks we will gather in small groups and talk about why we can't get along.

It's a family tradition.

Did you wing it, or follow a recipe?
I'm working today and my wife is out of town, so I'll have to find something that's open. Penthouse has a restaurant here, maybe I'll go there and check out the fish tacos.

Recipe, for you I will share it.

Fill glass with ice. I prefer a large glass.

Fill ice filled glass with Crown Royal.

Force tiny amount of Coke at last second for color and to keep significant other off your back for being a lush and shirking all responsibilities today.

Enjoy.

Would Coke Zero work in place of regular coke? I stay away from regular coke to keep my girlish figure.
I'm only drinking beer...I have to work tomorrow.
