Quote:Here's my two cents on the coaching versus talent idea: When I look at our defense this year the five most talented/biggest contributors are, in my opinion; Ramsey, Amukamara, Jackson, Ngakoue and Posluszny. Four of those have are in their first year with the Jaguars and Poz is in his tenth season in the league and by all accounts essentially a coach on the field. So of the five best players on the defense, four have received the least amount of coaching from this staff and the fifth essentially doesn't need coaching. Yikes.

Go away with this. You're making too much sense!

<p style="margin:0in;">I'm normally not a fan of BCC, but this is a quality article. Most jags fans have directed their ire towards Gus Bradley, which is understandable considering Bradley is the face of incompetence. I'm of the opinion that this organization has a much bigger problem than Bradley, and that problem is David Caldwell. Considering the current state of this football team, you can make the argument that David Caldwell has been one of the worst GM's in football over the past 4 years, especially considering the resources (high draft picks and infinite cap space) he's had to work with. Bradley (both locally and nationally) has caught a lot flack and criticism, but David Caldwell is the architect of the mess, and needs to be shown the door sooner than later. Enjoy the article

I agree with the article and that bum should go.  I was one of the first to start barking about Gene Smith and got tons of flack for it.  I'm being one of the first on Caldwell.  He stinks and needs to be fired along with bradley.
Quote:And what agenda is that?
Exactly. The Jaguars stink.  People are mad for stating facts?
Quote:Tabbing 6th and 7th rounders as misses is a little ridiculous.
Yea but all of his first rounders have been except for Ramsey
I got killed for saying that we need to FIRE CALDWELL!!

dude needs to go

the whole front office needs to go. coaches need to go. most players need to go as they've been compromised by Gus Bus

blow it all up

I'm fine with calling Marqise and Cyprien replacement level. Half a dozen pretty good games doesn't completely erase 2 years of bust.

I don't want the guy that missed on his HC and 3 top 5 picks hiring another HC and making another top 5 pick.

Quote:I said it many times before and I'll say it again. THE ENTIRE TEAM HAS REGRESSED. That doesn't point to talent or lack thereof. The finger should be pointed directly at Gus. The talent is not being developed properly and players are playing out of position in this [BAD WORD REMOVED] scheme on both sides.

We still aren't using Julius Thomas properly. We aren't using Fowler properly. We still aren't using Jack properly. Chris Smith, who flashes everytime he plays, is inactive on a weekly basis. It took until week 8 for the Jags to start calling the back shoulder fade to Robinson again. We start Yeldon over Ivory last week when Ivory is coming fresh off a monster game etc etc.

Now sure, Caldwell deserves blame for hiring Gus but what's to say Caldwell hasn't tried to since correct the move and Khan has decided to ride out with Gus until the end of the year? We really won't know what we have on this team talent wise until a competent coaching staff is given a chance to come in and try to correct the issues.

This should end the thread

Think you might be a tad hard on lee? The guy has been making strides every year in the league, while overcoming injuries, and has really flashed on a consistent basis this year. That, to me, should be commended.
People over hyping Lee much?  Lets not forget he was a High second round pick.  Injury prone and until this year has done next to nothing.  He is showing promise this year but has not lived up to his draft status yet.  He was drafted ahead of allen robinson.

Not yet I don't think so. Even the first half of this year his receptions were almost all short and manufactured completions. He has only been doing legitimate WR things for like the last month. Yes this last month has been commendable, but still a long ways to go to prove worthy of a pick in the 30s overall.
Eh, what difference does it make if we fire Bradley and Caldwell.  Next GM/HC will likely be just as bad.  We've seen this dance before, promise of change, but the more they change the more things stay the same.

I've given up on hoping for improvement until I actually see it on the field and in the win-loss column.

I'm not trying to over hype lee... I agree that he's been dissappointing in the prior 2 years, but to see his development this year is a positive on a team that has regressed in so many other areas.

That's all I'm saying about it.

Nope. I'm disallowing your pessimism.

Its part of the package as a jaguar fan to wax optimistic as the off-season and draft approaches. Sorry, but you signed up for this.
Lee has come on stronger than any of our receivers this year now that he's healthy. Cyprien is considered a top ten SS by PFF this season so far and it could just be the fact that the defensive personnel has improved enough to where he can play the role he was supposed to play since day one. BCC is a little agenda driven at times. I like some of their content. But it's mostly a dead horse being severely beaten over and over again. I still circle back to coaching. Because here's another point to be looked at. Since Hackett has taken over the play calling duties. The offense has been able to run the football a lot more effectively. And honestly, had we not turned the ball over so much in Kansas City we would have won that game. And also, we've been griping about Bortles missing wide open receivers deep over the last two weeks. So Hackett has managed to find a way to get our best targets down the field wide open with his game planning and scheming. Just need the QB to get up to speed with his deep ball accuracy.
I'm honest indifferent.

Who cares if they keep or get rid of Caldwell as long as Gus goes.

He's made some nice plays since he was a rookie. What he's done recently moves him away from replaceable. You don't give up on a young, talented player who shows promise, after 3 years.
Theres nothing to say that he even brought in talent.

To regress, one must have once been better.

We were better before Dave got here, meaning he hasn't risen us up even to the "medicore" we've been in the past.  Since his arrival, we've been the same, with different window dressing.

I'd say Lee will probably leave in free agency.
