I like it. It has a great trigger and a butter smooth bolt cycle. It's an extremely consistent shooter. I'm definitely the weakness in the operation.

That looks like the gun from Beverly Hills Cop 3.
Looks like a gun from Ghost Busters to me.

Nope, try again.

No, you can cross the streams with this gun.

Ha, I guess you don't read many of my posts. Other than an Eric bunker, I'm as far from residential as you can get.

In 1998 we had a "100 year flood" and the gun range next door lost a few throwing machines, which I happened to come across and was able to fix. So now I have my own trap shooting setup. I host a neighborhood shoot every Thanksgiving since 2002 to celebrate harvest.

I used to be able to do 600 yard shooting but over the last 15 years all the open ground became almond orchards. But long distance rifle shooting is my favorite. I'm only so-so and trap and skeet compared to some of the club members that can rip off 25s all day long.

I assume you load your own?

I used to be pretty strict about it. Now I occasionally reload shotshells if I'm competing.

I rarely ever do rifle ammo anymore, I can only do the long distance stuff a few times a year now so it didn't seem worth it. I don't compete with that at all so some of the premium factory ammo seemed good enough to play with.

All in all, I shoot way less than I did 10 years ago. I used to go through 500-600 shells a week. Now I might go shoot 4 rounds once a month haha.

You reload?

I was really looking at one in 6.5x55. Some of those plastic pieces scared me off though. Although I've heard nothing but great things about the trigger and bolt, like you said.
Not really a gun freak, but i do occasionally buy Pyrodex Type P and make my own fish finders and ditch diggers..

If they ask, I just tell em that I'm shootin pumpkin balls or deer slayers..

Yeah, I know you farm and assumed you live in a rural area. I'm on 42 acres but still have neighbors within 300 yards. What's a safe distance to be shooting without worrying about hitting something you don't want to hit?

Depends on what your shooting but even a smaller .22 round can travel a long distance.

I always use the rule of thumb don't shoot unless you know what's behind you at all times.

What weird kind of way are you firing your guns?

Ha that didn't read like I thought it would at all!

There's no standard "safe" distance.  It depends on the firearm, the load and the angle to your target line.

Centerfire rounds might go a few miles if shot into the air and 600-100 yards if shot standing and straight across at something.

Generally shotguns are like a 50 yards and in kinda gun. Skeet is patterned to be shot at 20-21 yards for example. Trap might be 40-50. After that the mass of pellets spreads out too much to break the targets reliably.

If you want absolutely zero pellets hitting anything you're not aiming for, 300 yards is right on the cusp of safety. I think Skeet ranges officially need a 300 yard barrier, although you'll find people that say the shot can travel that. At that distance it feels more like someone throwing gravel at you though.

Like someone posted, a lot depends on the gun, amount of powder, size of shot etc.
