I like this move.

Me too. Even a late-round pick is better than nothing.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't think he was all that great to begin with, but I thought that he would at least be depth/backup at C and G.  I'm guessing that we might see a move at OL soon.

The Vikings just cut Alex Boone....

Now we're talking. Boone just might be the band-aid we're looking for.

At least he has been a consistent starter for a long time in this league which is more than anyone else I see out there. The fear is simply that he's coming from the Vikings whose fans won't stop complaining about how bad their OL has been blocking this preseason.
He didn't have a very good preseason. I'm surprised we got anything for him. Good for us.
There was actually quite a few decent OL cut today. Hopefully Jags don't just stay put.
Kudos to Caldwell IF he returns a pick for Bowanko.

The entire Vikings OL was atrocious last year. Could that have something to do with the position coach in addition to several linemen getting hurt? Boone was pretty good at SF, then flamed out during his only season at Minnesota. If that is the case, I would not be scared off by his performance in front of Sam Bradford.
2019 7th round pick.

The freed up roster spot is the added value.   Especially,  considering the fit factor with Luke Bowanko.
I'm not a general manager or anything, but waiting on other teams final cuts to build your O-line isn't a recipe for success. Unfortunately, it is clear as day why we have won 22 games the past 6 seasons.

Agreed, but what it does do is make the best of a bad situation which started due to poor management. Another words, the team is trying to cover for their mistake.

No it's not. There are many reasons we sucked during the last six seasons. Most of them don't exist anymore.

Did they die?

They were cut, traded, waived, not re-signed, demoted, or fired.

Great, that can be used to package up if we want to move up in the draft this year.  I'm really hoping we add a guard before the season starts.
Yay a 7th rounder in 2019. Yeeehaw. Caldwell strikes again.

So they've got that going for them, which is nice.
