Died today at the age of 91.

Hi, Jaguars fans.    Former Chicago photographer  and billionaire Hugh Hefner, who created both Playboy Magazine and it's enterprises, and built  and owned the Playboy Mansion in Brentwood, CA, has passed away and   tonight of natural causes and pneumoia.  RIP Hugh.

Funny but, in fact, the articles were very good. Frequent contributors or featured authors included Jack Kerouc, Ray Bradbury, Shel Silverstein, Ian Fleming and Dan Jenkins among others, plus the interviews were outstanding.

I'm conflicted about Hef. As an adolescent in the age before unlimited access to free pornography his magazine was, well, inspirational. But when he talked about how he empowered women I remembered an interview I read with porn legend Linda Lovelace. She was not a very smart girl, and was thrilled when Hefner invited her to his mansion to view a screening of the movie in which she starred, Deep Throat. She bought into him describing the movie as art and felt the glamorous event was acknowledging her as a legitimate star. Hefner invited her to sit by him and at some point in the movie he crushed her spirit and fragile ego by revealing his whole purpose for feting her - to experience her expertise in the sex act featured in the movie. She complied because it brought her down to earth and reminded her what men felt was her real purpose and worth in life.

This story reminds me that, at his core, Hugh Hefner was just a creepy old rich guy.

The only Playboy I still have is from the mid 80's I think, with Vanna White (when she was hot).. Now she kinda looks like a female Skeletor..

It's already going downhill with him dead now. They just placed the first ever transgender model on the cover of Playboy. I read it somewhere today on Facebook. That's insane man. They have magazines out there for that sort of thing.

It's just annoying and mind numbing all at once. I was never a major Playboy fan to begin with. My dad kept a stack of Penthouse magazines on the can when I was a kid. Now THAT's quality material.
