This game will be telling. I don't think a London game, even as good as it turned out to be, told us much about this team by itself. Coupled with how we won at Houston, however, it's not shocking Jags fans are excited. I just need to see it consistently. 1 really good game followed by 1 really bad game and then another really good game (in London where your opponent has never traveled to play) isn't consistent enough for me yet. I'm not concerned about winning this game this weekend convincingly, I'm just concerned about getting out of there with a win. Winning games in the NFL is hard enough to do, let alone blowing out your opponent. What I need to see is a win this weekend, however it comes, and then either a win or a close, tough, hard fought loss in Pittsburgh the following week and I think that will be a big enough sample for me to be confident of what we do and/or don't have in this team.
Is this your excuse for why the Ravens lost?
I would also say the Jags defense played really well for about 3 quarter against the Titans but the offense was anemic.

Yes that was right before our "home" game in jax.
Hahaha I thought of Brooklyn as well but I have said/typed similar things so there is that. These type of articles don't bother me because they aren't based in observation. In all the fervor in non-football things, how the Jaguars defense has been playing is being lost.
Honestly I really hope BB5 can string together back to back performances for the first time. That is going to be on the Line and Receivers as well. They can't drop passes that hit their hands and the Oline can't gaff and false start/hold.
I hope we stomp the [BLEEP] outta 'em
With a name like Manish Mehta, I wouldn't take him seriously about American football.

Moderator edit...
This dude comes off as Woody Paige esque stopping just short of calling us Jagwads.
Listeni ng to Joe and Evan on 660 the fan here in NY. And right now Joe is slamming Mehta. Saying the article is ridiculous. And Evan is giving us props for being extremely improved.
This is exactly how I felt after reading that article:

Have you ever been on a 7.5ish hour flight? If so, did you do things differently on your next 7.5ish hour flight because of how you felt when you got to your destination? Now add that you're in a physical competition against some of the best athletes in the world, some of whom have made the same trip 4 times before. Maybe the Ravens were just as prepared and the Jags were just that much better on the day.
Regardless, your question was already answered in my original post if you would have taken the time to digest what you read. I didn't excuse anything. I said the current sample size given the circumstances isn't big enough to assume we're who this board generally thinks we are this week, especially considering where this board was mentally as a whole 7 days ago based on the previous performance.
We should crush the Jets right? What happens for you if the game is in question late in the 4th against the team everyone was sure was tanking for the number one overall pick? If we do crush them, what does that really tell you against a team everyone believes is set up to tank? (we know the players on the field aren't trying to lose) I need the win this weekend and I need to see how they do against Pittsburgh, a perennial playoff team, in their bulding. That shouldn't be a controversial take.
I just watched the Jets/Dolphins and aside from an absolute team meltdown, I can't see how we lose this game. There is potential for some strong "ugly" in this upcoming game! A side note: I never realized how bad McCown's throwing motion was. Almost Philip Rivers like. He also stands in the pocket like Savage. The Jets need to thank the Dolphins for their lack of tackling, poor pass rush, slow LBs and weak secondary. I honestly thought the Dolphins had some good pieces.
If Doug fake punted while up 37-0 against the Ravens, what does he do to the Jets?

I think this game is gonna a be alot closer than people think. I'm leaning Jags but wouldn't surprise me if the Jets won.
We need Hackett to call a similar game as last week.
Manish Boy just trying to sell birdcage liners.

FIFY.
I don't care to give this guy the extra clicks but I wonder if this is just his shtick .
I visited NY a couple years back right after Eli had made some really bad decision the night before, calling a timeout when they were out of them or something, that everyone felt was the deciding factor in a loss. My wife and I were surprised to see the front page of the NY Post had a picture of him with his helmet photoshopped into a dunce cap and the local media tearing into him. It seemed a little extreme for an early season game but drove home the point that the NY media can be a bit over the top.
It feels so good to have some wins this early in the season but recent history has made me a little hesitant to crown the Jags just yet. We've been a part of 3 blowouts so far, 2 in our favor and 1 against us. I'm still waiting to see how we take care of business down the stretch and am curious how the team reacts when their gameplan isn't working after the first couple series.
This kind of article is bulletin board material and I would love nothing more than for opposing teams to not take us seriously just to get punched in the mouth. The more success we have though, the less likely this will be the case.
I still like us to win but wonder about our emotional maturity. Marrone seems to be setting the right tone, does the team need another wake-up call to stay focused even though they are favored? That to me is what that fake punt was about. We've been so bad for so long that he wanted the team to finish and execute the gameplan despite the score. I'm not usually in favor of that kind of thing. I can remember a couple seasons ago when Brady was still in the game in the 4th quarter when they were up by 40 and being ticked off as they continued to poor it on. If that is what it takes to teach this team to finish games though so be it.
