So glad you feel comfortable mocking another team when the J-A-G-S are coming off a 3-13 season. And despite you not liking his opinion he's not wrong and he writes well. And the competition to become a beat writer for the J-E-T-S far exceeds most NFL teams because of the market he works in. So be pleased your team is a road favorite for the first time in 10 years. You can be free to boast when this team is a dynasty like the Patriots.
You think this was a good article..ok? The jags have been bad for a decade. The J-E-T-S have been a sorry franchise for 40 years with the exception of a year or two.

Yes...And you buried the lead. This is article is about how bad Bortles can be. We have all seen it for 4 years. Which Bortles will show up on Sunday? The Jets beat writer expects Mr. Hyde. He could be absolutely right. We haven't been 3-1 since Eisenhower was in the White House and you all are acting as if this writer is talking out of his butt. Two weeks ago you all were calling for Bortles' head and now you think he's the next coming of Joe Montana. As Marrone said, "don't get too up and don't get too down." What this guy wrote isn't wrong and if we aren't careful I don't want us to prove him right.
Thats one one part of the equation. Don’t forget McCown played for us and had a 4 pick game against the Jets which lead to his benching. It’s not so much wwe all think Bortles is Rodgers now but McCown hasn’t never even been Bortles on his worst days. The defense alone can win this game. He literally made it that much harder for the jets on Sunday
It should be a good game and a great test of the Jaguars' resiliency. How many teams have won in London then come back and won on the road without a bye? I think it might be zero. Let's make NFL history Sunday.

No. That was his brother.
Josh McCown is nothing special, but he's had some season's in his career when he came off the bench and won some games. Luke, not so much.
I don't think Josh McCown matches up with our secondary well at all though. It will be tough sledding for him.

I haven't buried the lead. I was just picking up on the fact that you're adding other things to it. I haven't, and won't, mention Bortles.. I'm not going to pass judgement on that right now. We know the player he can be both on a good and a bad day.. I just don't think we can use the travel as a legitimate contribution to a potential loss, personally.

The next two weeks will define our team, we have to beat a team we should and beat a team we shouldn't, if we manage this then I would say the official switch has been flipped

I would also say the Jags defense played really well for about 3 quarter against the Titans but the offense was anemic.
Have you ever been on a 7.5ish hour flight? If so, did you do things differently on your next 7.5ish hour flight because of how you felt when you got to your destination? Now add that you're in a physical competition against some of the best athletes in the world, some of whom have made the same trip 4 times before. Maybe the Ravens were just as prepared and the Jags were just that much better on the day.
Regardless, your question was already answered in my original post if you would have taken the time to digest what you read. I didn't excuse anything. I said the current sample size given the circumstances isn't big enough to assume we're who this board generally thinks we are this week, especially considering where this board was mentally as a whole 7 days ago based on the previous performance.
We should crush the Jets right? What happens for you if the game is in question late in the 4th against the team everyone was sure was tanking for the number one overall pick? If we do crush them, what does that really tell you against a team everyone believes is set up to tank? (we know the players on the field aren't trying to lose) I need the win this weekend and I need to see how they do against Pittsburgh, a perennial playoff team, in their bulding. That shouldn't be a controversial take.
I have to admit here....
Where Marrone keeps talking of not taking the highs too high or the lows too low, as a fan base we tend to do the opposite. After the Texans win, we were controlling the AFC South. After the Titans loss, fans were nearly ready to burn their tickets and give up on the season. After the London win, we're now surely destined to go undefeated so it would seem looking around.

I don't read the article as a wholesale dismissal of the team like Page.
His focus is about 80/20 Bortles and Marrone.
Of course his analysis is woefully inadequate, even on the stuff he did offer.
For a Woody Paige wannabe, he misses the mark.

That's fans being fans.
Being reactionary is the default setting for fans as a whole.
However, I can understand the fans sense of excitement over this team's start, since we haven't seen anything like this in a decade.
its not that what he said isn't true, bortles is bad.. but the way he said it and the tone was extremely disrespectful of both our qb and our coach, and even our team

It actually went pretty well for him. He slammed Blake Bortles, based on his career stats. And let's face it, it's hard to defend Bortles based on his career stats. God knows his criticism of Bortles isn't anything most of us haven't been doing for a couple of years. His criticism of Marrone, fair or unfair, is based on events that most of us down in Jacksonville know very little about.
So it wound up being just a straight up five minute interview, not much arguing.

That is true, but maybe that's what you need to do when you're in New York and covering the home team, the Jets.
It's a slanted article, biased in that it cherry picks the facts that suit what he wants to say.
Cleverly slanted is the way I would characterize it. Not balanced at all. But not untrue.
It's what a lot of us could have said prior to the season. He's holding onto the preseason view of the Jaguars, not taking the first three games into account.

But Bortles is still demonstrably better than McCown, and he didn't mention that at all in his "analysis."

As you would expect, a lot less emphatic talking to Jaguars media than in his article. You would only know he was that emphatic when Ryan Green would read excerpts from his text.
The only different thing he said was that he was surprised that people in Jax were so surprised about the critics on Bortles because everyone should know he is bad.
From my perspective, it wasn't even what he said about Bortles, it was the fact he pretty much sounded like a fanboy in his article.
Well looks like he really hates Blake Bortles haha
Blake has 3 interceptions in his last 7 games under Hackett as OC. I'd say that sample size is a decent one to go off of.
I know nothing about the Jets Oline but they certainly can't be as good as the Titans one. If they resemble the Ravens one, then the Jets offense is in trouble.
Doug Marrone a mediocre Head coach?
This guy turned around the Bills and looking like he's turning around the Jags, where does this guy get his info from

Hasnt only one other team did that before, its a small sample size
