How many times in the last 4 years have we been talking about a loss that we truly should've won and weren't completely outclassed on the field? I don't remember a single game except maybe the Ravens last year when Myers got blocked that we should've won and didn't.

Better days are already here, even better days are ahead for us with a few more personnel moves.
Personnel moves:

1. Get rid of Bortles and bring in a Vet plus a rookie.
2. Get rid of Poz and Lewis. Bring in a pass catching TE via draft.
3. Get rid of Lee. Sign ARob to a  deal and sign another Vet WR with reliable hands.
4. Upgrade Oline via FA.

AFC South champs.

The way I see it, Cousins, a couple of guards that can get push in the running game, a DT that can hold up against the run, a TE and get Robinson and Westbrook healthy, we are set.
1) Defense is arguably the best pass defense in football right now but it's also one of the easiest to run on in the entire NFL. Not good enough considering the the investment put into it.

2) After calling a near perfect game against the Ravens , Hackett's play calling against the jets was really off. Twice on 3rd down he called a pitch play to the running back to go outside. Both stuffed. You don't call those plays on 3rd down. Had 3 goal lines downs late in the game to win. 3 pass plays. One of which was a slant to Lewis instead of a jump ball. Guy had like a 7" advantage over his man.

3) Perfect example of why Bortles doesn't have the head to be a good NFL QB (or the skills). He was at his best against the Ravens, confident and relaxed. Early on he looked great but as soon as the Jets started blitzing and mixing up coverages he started missing and his head went way down. Once he goes bad like that it's been very difficult to get him back on target. Every pass is an adventure and there's just no consistency. What I will say is too his credit he got the ball where it needed to be for the W. Good pass to Lee to get in field goal range but he dropped it.

4) Positives I guess were the offensive line still looks good . 85% of Fournettes rush attempts have gone for positive yards. 86% of Ivories carries have gone for positive yards. Those numbers are better than almost every running backs stats. Shows that the line is keeping us on track. Only issue is getting some runs into the second level but I think that will come as LF gets more comfortable.

Defense made big plays when it mattered. Bouye with a crucial pick. Jack with a crucial TD. Yannick had 2 sacks as a strip. Fowler had a beautiful rush around and sack/fumble. If they had managed to get to that it would have been game over.

All in all, while that was a terrible loss, we are currently 1st in the division.

Next 4 games are
Steelers
Rams
Colts
Bengals.

I have the Steelers and Rams down as a loss. Colts+ Bengals down as Ws.
Plain and simple....we are a super bowl caliber team with a better QB.

That's...a whole lot actually.

Well...barring anything unforeseen, we'll get Westbrook back about week 9.  We should have Robinson back next year, too.  Good guards are typically found from rounds 1-3.  Same with DTs and TEs.  Besides any of those can be obtained in FA.

The tough get is Cousins.

This is actually quite achievable. During free agency, the Jaguars target 2 key players:

1. Kirk Cousins- Should be in his prime next season. May not be top 5 quarterback, but top 10 is all the Jags need. Pay the man.
2. Justin Pugh- Can play guard or right tackle. Also in his prime. Played for Syracuse and Coughlin in New York.

Draft:
Rd. 1- Quinten Nelson- Best college guard. Should be there when Jaguars pick between 15-20 in round 1.
Rd. 2- Best tight end available in what appears to be a solid group. Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Penn State all have guys who would fit here.
Rd. 3- Quarterback to develop behind Cousins. Who knows, maybe even Mayfield can fall here due to height. If not there are several good
candidates who will be available at this spot.

How would this offense look with a line of Robinson/Pugh/Linder/Nelson/Parnell blocking for Fournette and having Cousins throwing to Robinson, Hurns, Westbrook and the new tight end (let's say Gesecki from PSU)? Lee should not be re-signed in favor of paying Robinson.
Defense only needs to make a few changes such as replacing Poz (hopefully Brown will be ready) and possibly run stuffing lineman.

What a shame that quarterback wasn't addressed last off-season as this team would have contended for AFC South.
I just don't see us paying ~30 mil a year for a FA QB.

Seriously think of all the spend to cap money we have been flushing down the toilet for Henne.  That isn't a big deal.
Man, watching the Gamepass coaches film it is so clear the Jags were robbed on that touchdown where dude wasn't ruled down. Between that and the cheesy holding call on 4nettes TD is a 14 point swing. I will now count this game as a victory heisted from the Jags on the back of a failed replay system and poor ref calls.

Do you maybe have a gif or pic of the moment he was touched?
Don't have gamepass yet this season and was looking forward to seeing that play from different angles again. Thanks anyway Smile

These things have a way of correcting themselves.

Hopefully there is a game where we should have lost but end up winning!

Sorry, I tried a print screen but the image is to large I guess. I'm not the best at that stuff. I'll try on Giphy later. I know NYC4Jags can.

I mean dudes foot got knocked up behind his own head. That simply does not occur naturally why running or hurdling.

Huh? Henne in his entire 10 year career has only made 26.6 million with a max of 5 million in 2016. Cousins is going to make more than Henne's entire career per year.

It's hard to believe that the toe of his cleat doesn't make contact with Telvin's back or shoulder when you watch this angle.

But -- it's possible he just awkwardly hurdled the LB. Not likely, but possible I guess.
Hard to tell with the green screen effect but looks like he hits Telvin's back and even Big C gets a touch.
Whether he was grazed or not, it's still on the D to play to the whistle IMO.

Bingo.

Honestly, that play I think changed the game. The offense looked good on the first drive and they were ready to play with a lead. Then one crazy play happens and everything seems to change.
Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I took this game as an encouragement. These are types of things that would have led to a blowout last year. We hung tough and were in it until the end. I expect that the gaffes this week lead to a winning streak until the bye.
