for years, Gus Bradley has preached that it's all about "getting better"... he wouldn't even utter the word "win" in his first 2-3 years.  I believe he has developed a culture of losers, and I think he is a loser himself.

I would like to just point to a quote from Kelvin Beachum after today.  It's interesting that it takes a veteran to come here from a winning team to finally have some common sense.  I'm also sure guys like Beachum aren't too interested in the signs hanging up at Everbank saying "we believe in getting better."

“It’s about wins and losses in the National Football League,” Beachum said. “It’s not about a step forward and it’s not about finding positives. It’s not about any of those things. It’s about winning and losing. It’s the National Football League. You have to grow up. We have to find ways to win games.”

Well said and clearly a fact now. Bradley is NOT qualified to be a Head Coach.

This is one key reason why I believe it's important to have veteran players from winning organizations on a roster.

T-wigg has always harped on this and touched on it again tonight on the post game radio show with Hacker. He said it's really dangerous to take a "let's get better and keep taking steps in the right direction" approach. Pro sports are about wins and losses..PERIOD. Even if we were in a rebuild those first few years, the expectation should have been(should always be) that we go into the every game to WIN it.

yeah.  I just think Gus is who he is.  The "just get better" stuff may work in college with superb athletes.  It may work if you have a great roster and are lucky enough to have a bunch of leaders on the team that are internally motivated.

It was not the right approach to take with our team.
Gus isn't getting any better. He's only gotten worse since being here and the team has followed suit.

But Khan is too blind to see it.
is there a video of the jags in the locker room jumping around yelling "We believe in getting better! We believe in getting better We believe in getting better"
This is what happens when you have the millennial generation and participation trophies, set the bar low, think "getting better" is the important thing is instead of actually winning.

Getting better doesn't get you into the playoff hunt in December.

I could live with the "getting better every day" philosophy, if it was actually happening.

What does the generation have to do with Bradley's flawed approach to coaching?

It goes to the core of the issue.  Tom Coughlin didn't care what the players thought or about their feelings, he cared about results on the field.  Gus said he wanted to created a stress-free environment, it all goes to the "getting better" versus "winning" philosophy, new generations versus old school.

Gus is a loser. Has nothing to do with the generation bro!

Far be it from me to defend Bradley as he is clearly on his way out (probably a few weeks before the end of the season to get a jump on available candidates and not allow Marrone enough time to win the job), but these two messages aren't at odds with each other. No need to reach for reasons to complain. There's already plenty.
Beachum pretty much summed up what every Jaguar fan has been raving about since last year. The worst part is we don't give ourselves much of a chance with all of the turnovers and penalties (beating ourselves) we commit. You are professional athletes/coaches that make a handsome living to excel at their job. One of the quotes Del Rio used a lot when he was here is that "It's a bottom line business." And that's exactly what it is. The fans don't want to hear about "good effort", "moral victories", "had a good practice". The only thing that matters is the scoreboard, PERIOD.

It's simply nowhere near good enough around here for how long and how far our roster has come along since he started. Worst winning percentage in NFL history with at least 50 games played.

Still dont get the Gus hate. Coaches put players in position to play well. It is the player's job to go out and do just that.

From a coach's standpoint (for example) Greene muffs s punt. You bench his sorry butt for Lee. Lee muffs s punt. You bench his sorry butt for Walters... Okay! Walters muffs a punt........ Wut a coach tuh doo

Agreed. This last game was coached fine, some fluke turnovers and terrible officiating did us in.

I respect what you are saying.   Yet,  I saw a stat last night that jumped out regarding the Jaguars.   The team is last in the NFL with a -12 in turnover ratio.

The NFL is a performance based league.   If players don't hold on to the ball,   they are at the very least going to have their roles reversed.   In some cases,  they are going to be released.    If coaches can't get players to protect the football better,  at some point they are going to lose their jobs.    In terms of what you mentioned,  one has to wonder if the team's Special Teams Coordinator Mike Mallory will be let go during the season.  Tennessee already fired their Special Teams Coordinator.

When in doubt, blame it on the millenials. That's what the old folks do.

Coaches are supposed to put their players in a places to succeed.... and Gus has never done that. This team continues to come out flat in the first half.. who does that fall on?
