Of course it depends on the nickname. Teams will respect Sacksonville because it comes from what we actually did on the field. We earned it. In the past, teams thought or knew the Jaguars DL could be pushed around. Now everyone knows that is not true. Does the nickname Sacksonville help, or do people just know the fact we lead the NFL in sacks?

I don't know. We could probably call ourselves anything and this D would still get respect with the way it's been playing. It doesn't really matter if they know we're elite before we play them, they'll probably know after.

It could serve as a reminder if nothing else. Can't hurt, might help.

A nickname does nothing. Results on the field does everything to show who and what this team is about. The D has certainly shown themselves worthy to be paid attention to but we're only five games in.

So whenever Ramsey picks one off or Bouye breaks up a pass, we all yell “Steeeeeeeeeveeee!”? I just wanna make sure. I don’t wanna be the only one out of 60k people yelling “Steve”.

I swear, if this happened I would streak through the stadium.

No, that would be awesome.  Imagine the confused looked the announcers and such would have trying to explain it.  Then a week or two later, they flex a game a al michaels explains the secondary’s name is Steve and why.  I think that’s even better.  Nickname, screw it.  I hope it gains steam.

I was more talking about him streaking around the stadium that frightened me...
