Watson has 19 TD passes in his first 7 games. Most ever. What did Young do?
Both highly touted QBs coming out of college after winning national titles. Both mobile quarterbacks who have seriously problems with consistency and accuracy. The more tape teams get on the kid, the worse he will look. Pff still has him at the bottom of the barrel on an rankings. He makes way too many poor decisions, a lot that should have TOs. Everything comes to it's mean eventually.
LMAO, he's tossed 3+ Td's in four straight games, and 4+ in 3 of 4 games @63% completion for the season as a starter. He's been the model of consistency, posting a passer rating of 100+ in four straight games. They are leading the league in scoring and are averaging 35.7 ppg when he starts. He's doing this with a bad O-line If he is doing that with "serious problems with consistency and accuracy", I guess you expect him to throw for 400+ yards and 5TD's a game or something.
He did have some serious accuracy issues his first few weeks. But not so much recently. Kid has been playing out of his mind.

You have to put in perspective what he just did, no team had scored a TD against Seattle in the 1st quarter, he did on the first drive, no team had scored a TD against them in the 4th quarter, he put up 2. They were giving up an NFL best 14ppg, he went off for 38. Every week its another way to deny the obvious conclusion that barring injury this guy is a future perennial Pro Bowler and is already a franchise QB, and he's only a rookie, he will get better, he has the right attitude and composure that is obvious if you watch him play. All this game tape nonsense is stupid, if that was the case then you would see a lot more guys have amazing rookie years like you see with RB's you don't. QB's get better as the get experience, that is what people should be acknowledging, in 3 or 4 years he will be a monster.
RG3 was never this kind of passer he good rookie year he threw the ball less than 20 times a game, only averaged a shade over 200 yards a game and only had 20 Td's. Watson is averaging almost 270 yards a game as a starter, and in only 7 games he has 19 TD's. The comparison are stupid, he is a passer first, RG3 was a runner first who used it to set up the pass.
I won't deny that he looks good. I will still say we will have to see how it plays out. Signs point to yeah you have the QB. You'll need even more out of him because your defense lost the NE and Seattle games and is giving up a bunch of points. I know you are missing great players but they aren't young guys.
Mariota is a good example of why teams should pump the brakes a bit before crowning anyone (If Bortles isn't a good enough example)
Mariota had his praises sung loud and long after promising rookie and sophomore campaigns.
He really isn't playing great now and has been injured quite a bit (dang those slight framed QBs...)
I'm not saying Watson is or isn't anything yet. He's playing MUCH better than I thought he would, I can say that.
Its hard to call it a fluke when hes playing so well, but RG3 looked great his first year also.

People are drawing at straws here. Watson is not a read option only QB. He is a QB that can throw but happens to have great legs. Like Newton.
I understand Texans fans need to slow their roll, but Watson ain't nothing like RGIII, Kaepernick, or VY. Yeah those guys were successful early & faded away, but their su cess came differently than Watson's.
You beat those guys by slowing your pass rush, focus on containing rather than pressuring them. You slow your pass rush against Watson & he'll kill you. So far at least.
He's more like Alex Smith or Aaron Rodgers than RGIII.1
Watson wins AFC player of the month
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...r-of-month
"The Houston Texans rookie quarterback was named the AFC offensive player for the month of October on Thursday, becoming the first rookie signal-caller to earn such honors in league history.
In four games in October, Watson threw for 1,171 yards with 16 touchdown passes to just five interceptions while adding 145 yards and another TD on the ground. The Texans scored more than 33 points in each game and went 2-2 for the month.
For the season, Watson has 1,699 yards and 19 TDs. That number set a record for most passing touchdowns in the first seven career games since 1970, passing Hall of Fame QB Kurt Warner.
Watson also was named the league's rookie of the month."
He's playing amazingly, no doubt, but I want to see him do it when DC's have a full off-season to gameplan against him. If Watson can adjust to their adjustments then he will truly be a star, I just don't think anyone wants to crown a rival into the HOF after 7 games, so if you're looking for that around here I wouldn't hold my breath. Also, O'Brien is a terrible coach so he has that going against him too.
And now they've lost their franchise QB.
