I was gonna post the definition of the word think but I figured you could look it up.  Common sense would tell me Tom is in the house now and Day doesn't have the size in what Tom likes in his DTs.  May not be any off the field stuff or if he was upset at bringing in Dareus but nobody knows for sure
Not following you pal, I agree Kaye is only speaking opinion wise there.

We're on the same page. If Day was bigger or could play nose/DE better he might have a shot at staying but the team feels he can only really contribute as a 3 tech and we have 5/6 bodies who can play there already. Don't agree with it but the logic makes sense.

His opinion is no more than anyone elses.  He has no clue what goes on behind closed doors or if Coughlin wants bigger DT's that can hold up against the run

I don't disagree, but I feel like he's a guy you ride with through the season because of his talent level and try to ship off for a draft pick in the offseason. Perhaps they tried around the deadline and had no takers, but both D'Anthony Smith and Chris Smith had trade value and Day is easily better than both of them.

Fair enough, I agree with we should of tried to trade him.  That's the only reason I think something might of happen behind closed doors.  I'm thinking he could of been vocal about trading for Dareus and taking away his play time, maybe not though

And look how that turned out lol

Yep with us most likely going to the playoffs and Dak watching from home.

I like Dak just as much as the next guy but he’s not a game changing qb. I doubt the cowboys even have a winning record now that Zeke is gone

Day doesn't strike one as that type of player. An insightful pleasant guy. This is a #s casualty. If anything, Dareus' presence seems to have elevated the play of his counterparts Jones, Jackson n co. He'll be snagged.

Yep giving up talent for free doesn't sit well with me. I wouldn't be surprised if some other teams view Day as a starter.

I don't think he's strong enough to be a starter, but he should be a good rotational player in this league for a while.
You know you have arrived when you have to cut good players to make room on your roster. I hope this becomes the norm.
Is Day still eligible for the pratice squad?

He now has two accrued seasons, but he still qualifies under the new rule that allows up to four players with multiple accrued seasons.

Good point. This was basically a numbers move considering we had 6 DTs on the roster. It must have been a tough call between Day and Abry Jones.
I dont get why they released Day, I get the DL was getting loaded but you have to stash him you never know what might happen
If ya make moves based on potential injury concerns. Ya won't get very far.
Day had too specified a role. He was an undersized 3T only, so useful on pass rush downs but he wasn't in many pass rush packages even before we added Dareus. Plus, the D is healthy and the O needs some extra players active on game days.

Exactly!  Someone on the coaching staff/management staff had to make that call.  This is a good place to be no matter how bad it sucked to have to make that call.
A sign of an elite roster means good players start getting waived. I'm sure he won't have any problem getting picked up somewhere, hopefully outside of the division. Maybe the Chargers.

Yeah i would much rather have Bortles/Henne than Bortles/Dak and no Day.
Hearing no bad news on the drop of Day. Really wonder why they just didn't IR the guy. There is no way there is a cap on IR players, is there?

Would have been between Day and Ankou. Abrys contract is too big. Ankou can play nose so he was kept.
I love how some of you bash the crap out of Blake every chance you get, but the world ends because we cut Sheldon Day with his CAREER 11 tackles and 2 sacks lol. Sheldon Day has probably looked disruptive on no more than 5 plays his entire career. Will he get grabbed off of waivers, maybe, but it's definitely no lock. You talk like we just cut Malik Jackson. I just don't get how some of you view football sometimes, it's mind boggling.
