Quote:It's not about who's the better fan, and that's totally not the point in any of my posts. Telvin, Allen, and Malik are specifiically talking about the fans that go to the games. That's why it's easier for the fans that aren't going to the games to dismiss their comments, because they aren't directing their shots at you.
No I get it, my post wasn't meant to mock the fans making larger financial/temporal investments. I was saying I'm not in your position so I can't say how I'd feel. I'd probably be furious given my income.
I support from afar, which is also difficult, cus I get no gameday experience, and it's hard to always be surrounded by fans of other teams and find ways to try to defend the turd we put on the field year after year.
But I understand there are people with families who have the Jags effecting their wallet when they have kids, and to have the players act like those people aren't holding up their end of the bargain is disappointing to say the least. But that's human beings for you. The majority only give thought to others' plight if it directly influences their experience.
Quote:I did.
Then I'm confused. If anything, you sound like a very passionate fan. One who had been patient and hoped that patience was going to finally pay off this season. If that's the case, I don't see why you took this personally; aside from needing to vent frustration about the season using whatever vehicle that was available. In year's past, I bet you were one of the loudest, most demonstrative fans in the stadium. You're one of the "keepers of the oath," and don't realize how important you are. It seems to me Malik was calling on you and not calling you out. There's a difference. While it's fun, the game is a grind, but hearing your fans behind you, urging you on can give a player new life. Jags gotta prove it on the field but they need you to not give up.
Quote:Arrowhead has a longstanding reputation for being a tough travel game for NFL teams regardless of the chefs record at the time. Seattle may have it's share of bandwagon fans - but KC fans get loud on third down and a "light attendance" day there is about 68,000.
They are also known for the "bbq cloud." One end of the stadium is partly open and the tailgaters that set up on that end send smoke billowing into the stadium. If there's little wind, it will sometimes hang there for half of the first quarter. Fred Taylor has spoken of it being the most hostile atmosphere he played in.
Yeah Arrowhead is always outstanding in that respect, that's why I said Seattle with our record would not have anything like the "12th man". Chiefs have proven they have good atmosphere even with a losing football team.
What else is there to do in Kansas City besides the football game?

Eat some steak. That's about it

Wow I didn't know that about KC. Thanks for sharing.
Some nice breweries in KC too
Quote:That's [BAD WORD REMOVED]...I'm a season ticket holder and Jag fans were there in force....problem was they played so poorly jag fans were in their seats while raider fans were up in their seats. This is garbage....fans show up every week for these pathetic performances...maybe it's time the Jags actually showed up.
I think that's the core of what get's people angry about comments like Malik made. I get what he means and he probably isn't intentionally being critical but the implication is that the Jag fan base is weak and it's anything but weak. So we take offense. Have Denver go 3 winning seasons out of 16 and see how quiet it gets up there.
The Jags themselves take the crowd out of the game. They are notorious for slow starts How is the crowd going to cheer when getting dominated in the first half?

Since 1995, the Chiefs have had a total of 9 losing seasons and and 4 were 7-9 years.
Since 2007, the Jags have had 6 consecutive losing seasons, 8 out of 9, and 12 out of 17.
Plus the Chiefs have been there since 60's. The original generation of Chiefs fans who were children can go to games with their grandchildren now. Jaguars don't have the legacy of fandom to represent for 6 consecutive losing seasons.
All the players speaking out have to remember that the fans who are booing or not making noise have watching the Jaguars for those 17 years. They are numb to losing and not easily won back, especially when the team is not even watchable much less winning.
Just because the players did not witness those years, does not mean they should not recognize that. They should realize that and understand that "challenging" and "chastising" this fan base won't win hearts.

It's not even the losing seasons. It's the quality of football on the field. The jags give you NOTHING to cheer for and sap the life out of the crowd. The crowd gets loud when jags actually play like an NFL franchise and are competitive.
You guys have never had your friends "gas" you up to talk to a girl? Same concept. You should be just fine on your own but knowing your friends are pulling for you gives you an extra boost.

It's sad because I can't even really remember the last time they beat a good team. The Bears just beat the Vikings.....
The Jags continually look like crap season in and season out. The fans start looking towards the draft sooner than just about every franchise not named Cleveland.
For some of the players, this is their first taste of losing. For the fans, it's been more than 10 years of bad football.

Yeah I get the concept, but if you're giving him the pep talk for a decades and your friend never walks over to talk to her, eventually you just realize he's going to have to figure it out himself.

Hahaha Bravo
This team is filled with players that think highly of themselves. Which I think is a good thing, but the problem is they all individually think they are not the reason for us sucking.
This team needs to start winning if they want to keep the fanbase engaged. You can't open up down by 10 points in the 1st quarter.
If you are the Patriots and you're down 14-0 in the first quarter, the fanbase will stay engaged and loud. Why? Because they have been conditioned to believe in their team. They KNOW more often than not that they will make a comeback.
We have been kicked in the teeth. Other teams dance on our skulls week in and week out at home.
Hey Malik, why don't you shut your mouth? How about you get to the QB? How about not getting kicked out of the game and costing this team 45 yards in penalties!? You know how many sacks and TFLs you have to make to get back those 45 yards Malik?
Once Gus is gone, this team will pull together. He's the cancer. He's the reason why this talented team is playing like [BLEEP]. He's the reason they're unprepared and he's the reason why they look lost out there.

Sorry, he can't do the math on that one. He can count to 90 million though.
Quote:“We did a lot [of soul-searching following a loss 36-22 loss to Tennessee last Thursday]. It wasn’t us. We felt like we had a good week of practice and to go out there and play like that was very disappointing. That’s why we can’t say it was this fault, or it was the offense’s fault. The defense didn’t stop anybody to give us a chance. We definitely have to look at ourselves as a whole team. We know we have the pieces. We just have to go out there and start executing.”
