Quote:A Rob is turning into a possession WR to be honest with you. Most of his TDs and highlight catches were on jump balls. He struggles with route running, getting separation from #1 corners, and doesn't use his strength properly within 5 yards like a Brandon Marshall (same sized WR should).
Here's something to ponder:

(although space will just flat out deny it or not get it)

ARob rookie year - had a case of the drops

Bortles rookie year - mechanics not that good

ARob 2nd year - much better catching the ball

Bortles 2nd year - much improved mechanics

ARob 3rd year - getting a case of the drops again

Bortles 3rd year - severe mechanics regression (back to his rookie year mechanics)

I cannot say that AROB's drops are directly caused by this. However, there IS a correlation there.

And, it is known that ball trajectory, accuracy, speed, spinning ability DOES affect the ease of catching it.

So,,,,,?

Since this is about defense does that finally mean you'll acknowledge that the defense was 4th in the league in yards per play coming into this week?

And that maybe the reason they are giving up a lot of overall points despite being very good on a per play basis is because of some outside contributing factor?

Like maybe Bortles' turnovers plus a shockingly high 3 and out rate keep hanging them out to dry?

YARDS PER PLAY IS UTTERLY IRRELEVANT!

Why don't you pick a stat that says the Jags have the most red headed football players in the NFL.

The NFL is about scoring.

Four facts:

The Jags are giving up 28.0 ppg on defense. The Jags were giving up 28.0 ppg in 2013. The Jags lead the NFL in penalties. The Jags have the LOWEST amount of turnovers in the league.

The defense is THE problem.

Not true. It's not perfect, but it's a heck of a lot better than just stating blanket overall numbers. There is far less static in rate numbers.

Also interesting, the Jags are 7th in points per minute of possession against. That very clearly shows that if Blake could help them by not being 30th in the league in time of possession their scoring defense would be far better.

Most of the defense sucking is a product of Blake sucking first.
I see a flatline as in nothing has improved overall the whole gus error.  Give it up SpaceCoastJag.  You can look at points, yards, scoring defense, etc and everything is a flatline.  No improvement and no change during the guys whole tenure.  Hey we scored more last year but we played career backups that went to prevent defenses because of their QB situation.

People have pointed out to you the playing from behind stats but honestly the simple fact here is....

We have one dominant win in 4 years

Spam...it's not just what's for dinner.
True.  It's also good for breakfast and lunch...and snacks.

My dad is a spam, you guys are clueless just like the rest of the jaguars fans.

Can we exchange TMD for this guy? At least TMD could string together some logical thoughts and arguments.
Why can't we have nice things?

A-Rob did not have problems with drops his rookie year. That was Hurns.

Stop you're going to cause his programming to malfunction.

When you're LAST in the NFL in rushing, your time of possession is ALWAYS going to be bad.

Go see when the Jags had MJD.

How come the rushing game hasn't improved in 3 years?

The passing game was great last year. It's hard to score when you're one dimensional.

What if I told you Spacecoastjag is TMD?

Mind = Blown

We were pretty one dimensional last year as well.

And our pass blocking was worse.

Look man.. I think Bortles will be able to turn it around with a better coach and another offseason to work on his stuff...

But right now, he's playing poorly and it has nothing to do with the D.

Hold up though...

Is it valid to lay our crappy ToP solely at the feet of the QB? It stands to reason that if we could actually run the ball respectably, we'd inherently have a higher ToP instead of having practically every 3rd down we undertake be a 3rd and 7+. I dunno though...

It seems to me that you guys are too firmly entrenched in completely different galaxies in terms of how you think. Space blames the defense and lack of run game for everything...to a fault. Those who argue with him pretty much dump everything at the feet of Bortles, which only further spurs on his zealous devotion. The truth is BOTH aspects of our offense are jacked up and BOTH in totality are the main reason we suck currently.

It's Ragnarok, folks!

They were one dimensional last year. The running game was also crap in 2015.

27th in ypg

Everyone knows the coaching sucks on both sides of the ball.

Everyone knows a better run game would make Blake's job easier.

Everyone knows the defense has only been decent in a couple of games this year and has under-achieved the rest of the time.

In fact it would appear that the vast majority here have a much clearer picture of all of this than you do because they aren't blinded by some asinine agenda of propping up a severely struggling quarterback.
