Quote:So they have as many or close to our same amount of turnovers?

Good teams look at PLUS/MINUS on turnovers. Once again, the Jags defense is SO BAD, it's last in the NFL in takeaways. The Jags are NEVER approaching the playoffs until the bottom 5 defense improves.

Peyton Manning had 17 INTs last year. He won the Super Bowl because his defense could actually take the ball away.

What does Gus' defense do well? Create penalties?

Good thing Peyton had a historically great defense, huh? Anything short of that would have been curtains.

It's cool good teams look at +/- but where do those offenses rank in turnovers?
Quote:The offense was #14 last year. It's had success. Young players are always up and down.

The defense has never been better than #26 under Gus.

So if the defense is about the same as last year but the offense is now near the bottom of the league, what does that say about the offense?

I just listed a BUNCH of subpar QBs with good scoring defenses. Dilfer, Flacco, Osweiler, Sam Bradford, Wentz. These aren't world beaters and none of them are ever throwing for 35 TDs and 4400 yards.

Jags defense is clearly the problem.

You did, but I asked you for the turnover count of the three who are playing this season. Alex, Brock and Sam. You can even throw in Carson
Can't we just all agree that the O sucks regardless of the D and the D sucks regardless of the O.

The team sucks in general.

Breaking my own moratorium, a serious question for you.. If any one of those QBs threw for say 40 TDs and 4500 yds, would they be confirmed as Elite in your opinion?
i stills just want to know what all this means when blake cant properly throw a football

Because this thread is about how bad the defense is even after addressing it in the offseason.

If you'd like to derail it, we can certainly reward you for that.

Or, you can post that in one of the 194 existing Blake sucks threads instead.

If any QB throws for 30 plus TDs, they are not the PROBLEM of the team
The jags fooled everybody.  The nfl reporters, the fans, opposing teams, etc.  Almost everyone was saying we were going to have a good defense.  The defense stinks less than the offense but still stinks.  I hate the scheme.

So, if we hit the full reset button and Blake played EXACTLY like he played this past Thursday against the Titans, quarter by quarter for 16 games, he would not be a "problem of the team" (and I noticed you stopped well short of your normal ELITE classification based on similar or less stats)?  If your answer is "yes", I guess I'm done discussing it with you yet again...

They are if well over half of those TDs come while the team is trailing by double digits. Blake NEVER gets this team out to an early lead because he has 4 CAREER first quarter TDs. Thats pathetic.

The REAL problem is why is the defense giving up 28-30 points per game. No NFL defense should give up that amount of ppg for 4 years straight when the personnel has changed but the coaching hasn't.

So its not cool that the defense gives up 28-30 ppg, but it's totally fine that most of the time the only true offensive points the jags get is 4th quarter garbage points?

Deflecting at it's finest.

Every single defense will get tired and give up points if they are constantly on the field dude. What part of that are you struggling with? Not to mention when the ball gets turned over like that. Jags should have won against the Ravens but good ol Blake threw another pick right as the defense got the ball back AGAIN.
