Quote:Seems like these players are already challenged. Mentally.

No thread is complete without a one-liner Dinger zinger.

Sorry if this was already posted, but I didn't see any mention of it anywhere.

Caldwell to T-U: "Everybody is responsible for the situation we’re in today and that includes the players." #Jaguars[Image: NFL_Season_2016_JAX.png]

This quote seems to be an attempt by Dave to deflect the blame from Gus. I'm telling I won't be surprised at all if Gus is the head coach next year. I think it probably takes 7 wins for him to come back, but it's pretty obvious to me that he still has the support of the GM and Owner and I'm sure that they are hoping to retain him and not fire him. Of course lets just hope they get it turned around and start winning games, then everyone wins!

Here is the complete quote.

Quote:

Overall this year, Caldwell said: “Everybody is responsible for the situation we’re in today and that includes the players. They have a great obligation to regroup and compete and win.”

I wouldn't exactly call it a deflection away from Bradley. If anything he's making it clear that players will be held accountable just as much as the coaching staff.

And next year when they "tweak" the staff? Ugh this team
Unless this team starts winning out and finishes with a 7 - 9 or 8 - 8 record it's pretty obvious this front office and coaching staff is done. This is trickle down maneuvering at it's best. Khan put his foot on the entire team's throat this past Monday. They responded to his questioning by laying one of the worst eggs in franchise history roughly 72 hours later. This meant someone had to be offered up. So it was Olson. Now that Hackett is in place. The next move is pretty easy to predict. If Bortles struggles like he's done all year under Hackett. Bortles gets benched. Now Bradley has the excuse of having a bust at the QB position and nobody else on the roster behind him to help keep the offense from sinking. All that's going to do is spare him until the end of December. Good chance he's fired by Caldwell at that time just before the New Year's Eve game here at home against the tacks. Then that's when you'll see Doug Marrone be forced into the interim coaching position. And that all that leaves is a lot of begging and pleading from Caldwell to Khan during next year's off-season. The decision will have to be swift on Khan's end. You can't have one foot in and one foot out when the combine, free agency and the draft start coming up less than two months after the Superbowl game in February. The next general manager and coaching staff will have a very small window of opportunity to weed out guys on this roster that they don't like for their schemes and guys they feel are a waster of cap space.

I think you fire Gus before benching Bortles but thats just me..

Where did you get that idea from? Certainly not Dave Caldwell's quote.

The thread I pull and the progression of thought is "ugh this team". To keep the head coach for continuity and then ditch the OC, wrong coach. I figured 5 year plan but looking like no end in sight.

It was always a four-year plan. Nobody ever said anything about five years.

Ah no, they came out and said this after year three......

Everything with contracts and extensions to Gus Bradley show 5 years. But hey you won't find anything from anyone in the front office or staff with any target.
That article is about Blake Bortles.

"And I said, 'This year, we built the team. It's built and it's time,' and our players need to have that mentality."

That is Bradley. I am ignoring you now. Please feel free to do the same.
Quote:It goes without saying Greg Olson was not the primary issue in Jacksonville. All coaching problems begin at the top. Someone had to go and Olson was a good candidate for that.

Like players, Dave Caldwell made rookie mistakes and got better with experience. Jacksonville is his first GM job, so I gave him a pass in 2013.

Well there ya go, we can all breathe easy because you gave him a pass

haha.. give it time. soon she'll be talking to only herself on here because everyone will be ignoring her.
Anyone getting the feeling that Gus will be coach next year as well?

I don't.

Have you ever heard the term, "wallow in despair?"

Go outside every once in a while, dude.

What is that supposed to mean?

Seeming to be setup this way.

You think? Bortles is the best QB on the roster. Period. Gus isn't even the best HC on the roster.
