I've watched Greene make plays in college. And I've watched him tilt a game with 1 punt return. He's not bad as a 5th or 6th option.

He got benched for Lee as the punt returner and there is no way he beats out Mickens.  On top of all that he is not a good receiver.  I dont care what he did in college.  He has 125 career receiving yards, and fumbled 5 times with his limited time on the field, no thank you.

Greene is as good as gone barring injury to other WRs during TC.

He'll get his shot to make the roster... I just think he's behind the ol 8 ball as it were.

He went to IR.  He wasn't benched.
He probably wouldn't beat out Mickens, but that's why they have training camp.
The team clearly values him more than you do or they wouldn't have placed him on IR - they'd have released him.

Well... it's the best way to stash a player.
At the time it happened Mickens, Cole, and Westbrook were non factors.

Big difference between "benched" and "stashed" - which was my point.

Greene will be lucky to carve out a role on theis team next year, but lots could happen between now and then, and I'm not one to let the revisionist historians slide. Especially the gator homers Tongue

He was benched, he fumbled in back to back games and got benched for Lee last year.  You have no clue how the team values him, most likeley did it to give him one more shot in training camp,we will find out next year.  I don't see him being on the roster week 1.  I think the right decision was to put him him on IR this year and give him a chance to compete in training camp but I also think there is a slim chance he makes the 53.

As a Gator homer, I couldn't care less where a player went to college if he helps the Jags win.
I had high hopes for Greene, but feel the same as you as far as his chances to stick with us next year.

Same here, Telvin and Ramsey are 2 of my favorite players and loved Greg Jones as well

How about we let Colvin walk and then Derwin falls to us in the draft?

I don't think James falls that far and would rather give Bortles more help on offense.  I think Dave and Tom can find a nickel corner in the mid rounds

Last year?  Greene returned 21 punts last year.
Lee had two returns.
I think you are confused.

My bad, for Walters.  Not confused, just forgot it was for Walters instead of Lee. Either way my point being he got benched.   My point wasn't who he got benched for!

I see it now in the game logs.

They stopped using him on punt returns around week 11.  But he was IR'd in week 12  - with an achilles injury.

And the achilles was a nagging thing throughout the season from what I read.

I didn't look in any logs or stats, I just remember him getting benched because he couldn't hold on to the ball.  Look at the article above.  It wasn't that long ago.  Even worse he can't stay healthy or hold on to the ball.  Could be easily upgraded.  I remember a drop or 2 as well that stood out in his limited time on the field.  You are real high on Lee as well, maybe you like players with butterfingers.

Greene went on IR well before the Jaguars knew about Mickens. Now, given the way our ST Coach gushes over Mickens, I just don't see Greene really holding a candle to him. The only reason Rashad hasn't been waived is that Caldwell likes to hang onto draft picks as long as possible. Even if Lee goes somewhere else and someone were to get hurt, I can see Benn or even Wynn making it before Greene. Heck, I can even see Larry Pinkard or Jaelen Strong making it before Greene.

Agree with everything you said
Greene was so solid at FSU then came here and couldn't catch anything and then insulted the fans so we don't need him and I would rather bring in a UFA guy who can earn his spot on the team rather than have Greene. Just my opinion

LOL
Did you miss the part where I stated Greene would have a tough time beating out Mickens in camp?
That's not "real high." Greene is part of this thread  because many folks apparently forgot he's still a Jaguar and I think he'll get his chance to compete for a spot in the summer.  For some reason - that incited you and others to lobby against the kid. Whatever.  I'm not here trying to defend Rashad Greene. I was just trying to get the facts straight after you bungled them.

Lee's drops this year have been horrendous, but Hurns' did the same thing last year.  Lee's past two games looked great. There's still hope for him, but it may not be with the Jags after his early struggles followed by an injury.
