Here is now where we get to see what kind of QB he is. And this team as well. In all of sports you have teams who play well regular season and always fold in the postseason see atlanta braves, buffalo sabers etc.

Some guys play better when all on the line some play worse. Peyton and brady a prime example. Or regular season eli vs playoff eli.

This is bortles and the Jacksonville Jaguars to prove to the world we belong and we are real.
Ever since Clowney called Bortles trash, Bortles has spent every waking moment trying to prove him right.

Not sure what the root of his problem is, but when the game is on the line and he needs to make a play, he plays his worst football.
Fans like simple answers to complicated questions. So we say things like, if Bortles wins Sunday, he gets another year. If he loses, he's out of a job.

That's just overly simplistic thinking. I would bet the Jaguars have already made up their mind on Bortles, and aren't going to let one game influence them, even if it's a playoff game.

2 games on the road vs 3 straight at home. That seems to be the difference here. Blake has had 1 good away game and that was against the Colts.

So we'll beat the Bills and then up in Pittsburgh we'll need Big Ben to have a 5 INT type game again?
Bortles has been trolling pretty obviously. BRB comeback after your receiver goes full rookie to get the 19-16 after being down 16-2. BRB laughing when the defense gives up 28 points in one half to an awful offense. BRB throwing 2 TDs late just because you know the extra point will be missed. BRB playing well with no o-line or receivers against a desperate defense. BRB receiver drops an easy TD for his 3rd drop of the day and wondering "Is that ball so hard to catch?" so he started throwing it to the other team.

JUST LOL

Very true. Lets see what Blake is made of.

I  will  say  to  you  guys   what  I  have  been  saying  to  my  family........Play  hard  and  fast  in  the  first  quarter......as  if  we  were  two  scores  behind......be  aggressive,   take  chances.....better  to  make  the  mistakes  in  the  first  quarter,  than  at  the  end  of  the  game......mentally,  stay  focused,  no  matter what......resist  the  tendency  to  fall  apart  when  the  breaks  are  against  us.....physically  ,  we  are  as  good  as  anybody......mentally,  we  have  a  history  of  'panic  and  desperation'  when  under  stress.  Come  ooooonnnn  MANNN!..........show  some  swagger  and  confidence.......act  like  you  own  the  place!
Playoff football for most teams has typically been about running the ball, protecting the ball and playing good defense and waiting for your opponent to make a mistake. That's exactly what this team is built to do (although they've made their share of mistakes in recent weeks) so I wouldn't be surprised if the game stays low scoring and close and then gets broken open in the late 3rd or sometime in the 4th quarter when one of the teams gets desperate and starts taking risks on offense and making mistakes (more than likely that will be the Bills). I'll be a bit shocked if we come out guns blazing on offense early, unless it's from a long rushing TD or short pass that turns into a long TD by virtue of Buffalo mistakes (missed tackles, missed gap assignments, etc.) on defense or from a freak tipped pass play or something. If we take a big early lead, it'll more than likely be driven by a special teams or defensive TDs.
Blake has been pretty good in the two minute offense before half time. Hope he can start finding that mindset and production late in games.
I think Bortles plays on the 5th year option next year, but we draft his replacement early regardless. If he lights it up in the playoffs and next year, great! We'll have a Brady (lol)/Garroppolo scenario. If we continue to win in spite of him, it's time to move on.

He has shown the ability to make plays, but those games are few and far between. He's won us 2 or 3 games this year, but he's lost us the same amount, and a couple of times he's been bailed out by the D for some wins.

I'm interested to see how this plays out. As Rico keeps saying, Dave and Tom already know how they feel about him.

Smith/Mahomes might be a better comp.

But your point rings true.
Plan to draft Bortles' eventual replacement. If he balls out, great, we have a young stud waiting and developing in the wings (and dependent on Bortles' progress, perhaps trade bait later down the road)

I don't think drafting (or signing a FA)  QB is even a question. The question now becomes, do they make a move to move up to get a top-tier QB, throw the bank at a FA, or wait til a middle round to draft a guy.
I think these scenarios will be dependent on how Blake plays. If he plays well and we win some in the playoffs, I could see them waiting til later in the draft. If he's inaccurate and throwing INTs, I could see them trying to move up in the right situation to go get a Mayfield/Rudolph QB.

No matter what, I'm convinced at this point, they're gonna give Bortles that 5th year try, with a short leash perhaps.
You guys will talk yourselves into anything on message boards......uh, sure guy.

Won't be early at all. I expect Caldwell/Coughlin to draft a QB in round 5-7 to develop as a backup.

I expect 3 of the first 4 picks to be on the OL. You heard it here first.

Well you've been wrong being first before...

rounds 5-7 lol
The playoffs is the place legends are made or forgotten. Time for this high rated defense and top 10 offense to perform. I really do believe if Bortles chokes and has a mediocre game against Buffalo he is out of here.

Like Jimmy G not getting traded? You’re a clown and a troll. I can’t wait until April when Bortles replacement is drafted and your trolling whomever gets that joke of a QB on their team.

Totally agree.

On the flip side, if he plays like he did during the 3 game win streak and they make it to the AFC Championship game? Expect a contract.
I trust the front office

And if he plays as well as he did last Sunday and his receivers choke the game away (again) he'll get a new deal here as well.
