Quote:The season is over on New Year's Day sometime after 7:00 p.m. That is nobody's decision except the only one that matters, the NFL's. Saying anything to the contrary is a total lie.

Quote:As bad as the division is, it's not happening. Not with Blake playing poorly and this coaching staff.

With that said, until the math says we don't have a chance, anything is possible I suppose...
At this point I don't think I'd bet the house that we'll beat the tacks on Thursday. It's possible... but we'd have to pull a game winning mind set out of no where to do it. I don't know what's going on with Blake, but it needs to stop immediately or he needs to ride the wood for a little while and get his head together.

Only a few things matter from here on out...next year's HC, nailing down whether or not BB is the QB of the future, and next year's draft.  I would like to include the development of our young players but the majority of this staff has shown incompetence in doing that.
Quote:Most people use a teams past reputation to determine if they are "bad", and not their current success. We arguably haven't even played a good team yet.

During preseason, everyone said Green Bay is a good team and our chances of winning (or at least keeping it close) are based on roster changes in Jacksonville. The Packers, as usual, stayed mostly intact, and everyone expected to see a lot of improvement - especially on offense - for valid reasons. It was not a misconception based on Green Bay's historical reputation making people overrate the Packers, but simply knowing all the facts that, on paper, show they are going to be very good this season. It is not arguable that we have played against no good teams yet because of this. We can debate how good or bad the Ravens are, but definitely not the Packers.
Quote:What is your take in light of Owner Shad Khan's speech to the team?

It's one thing if the fans are not happy.

If the owner is dismayed at the performance and results...to me that takes things to another level.

I'm thinking that tomorrow night's game is critical in so many ways.  If the team responds with a decisive win, then the season will go on as scheduled.  I would be willing to bet that if it's a loss, especially another ugly loss then there will be some job vacancies within the organization this weekend.

I'm not going to say that Gus Bradly will necessarily get fired, but at a minimum some of the lower coaching staff.  While ultimately the buck stops at the top, I can see changes starting on the lower tiers of the staff this early in the season.

I still think that the team is on the cusp of turning things around.  The talent is certainly there as well as the desire expressed by some members of the team.  The thing is, there shouldn't be any finger pointing, especially by players that aren't performing to expectations.  While part of lack of execution and discipline can certainly be placed on coaching, at some point the players themselves have to take responsibility.  The stupid penalties/ejections/dropped passes, etc. need to stop and that's all on the players.

While a head coaching change might appease some fans, I don't think that it's the answer at this point of the season.

Telling the truth matters when you know the indisputable facts every single time. I will not tolerate anybody saying, "The season is over," before 7:30 p.m. (maybe even 8:00) on January 1, 2017. That is all I am saying, not that nothing we do on the field matters (actually everything does).
Quote:I can somewhat agree with this.  So we lost to one "bad" team (The Ravens).

Yep. The Chargers actually are better than their record, as we saw they dominated Kansas City for three quarters, nearly beat Oakland, and beat Denver and Atlanta. Not what I call a bad team.
If we need an example of a bad team, we should examine the 2016 Jaguars.

Not according to Blake Bortles.

"At the moment, Jacksonville is 29th in points scored and still does not possess the ball for a majority of the game (their average is roughly 27 minutes). Bortles has a 1:1 touchdown to interception ratio and is averaging just 6.6 yards per completion."

Thankfully our QB is playing well and is not the reason why we are 2-4....he talks a good game but does not back it up.

"One thing that's good about it is we have seen it before. We've done it this season. We did it last year. We have the ability and the right guys in the locker room to be successful and be a powerful offense. We just have to find it."

The bolded part means "good team."

So if we are a good team, why are we 2-4?

That's the question that the owner is asking.

Why do you think only a team's record determines how good or bad it is?

What else is there that you can quantify?

You can't use records to quantify how good or bad a team is at all. How did we win or lose? How good were the wins? How bad were the losses? And for Blake's sake why don't you believe him about talent on the roster?
LOL at this thread.. We suck folks. Bortles is one of the biggest reasons we suck.

If you want to tell yourself we are a good team when we are 2-4 then go ahead. Sure, I think we have talent, but that doesn't make us a good team because we are losing 2x as much as we are winning.

I said Blake Bortles told everyone else we are a good team. He knows better than anyone.

He was probably drunk when he said that.

In all seriousness, he would not come out and say we are a bad team. Record speaks for itself.
