All the scoffers out there are going to be the same ones who cry "How did we let this happen?" Did the NFL commissioner personally VOID the trade between the Bengals and Browns?

Who knows?

Belichick is re-arming with McCarron. Bet you Gators are STILL gonna scoff.

The Patriots may be adding a quarterback to their roster in free agency. WEEI’s Kirk Minihane reports New England has extended an offer to ex-Bengals backup A.J. McCarron, who won his grievance to become an unrestricted free agent. McCarron would presumably serve as Tom Brady’s primary backup and replace Brian Hoyer.

On Tuesday, NFL reporter Benjamin Allbright linked McCarron to the Patriots as well.

The Jaguars better get in there and try to coax McCarron to join the Jaguars. Championship experience is VERY hard to come by. McCarron has paid his dues. It's safe to say SOMEBODY is comparing A. J. to Tom Brady, and it ain't me.

Why didn't you put this in the Mccaronn free agency thread?

He's going to be a back up and will never see the field. From a non Gator, Tebow has two championships, how did that work out?

Worst poster I've seen in a while.
So he's going to go from backing up to backing up. Awesome. And that's IF he signs the contract.

Still scoffing! Laugh all you want. New England has had this in the works for some time. The Jaguars can still make a play, but if you were A. J. McCarron would you accept the challenge of beating out Bortles or accept the role of heir-apparent from a franchise that has DOMINATED the NFL for close to 16 years?

How could you NOT see this coming? I really hope Tom Coughlin will step in and try to convince McCarron to come into Jacksonville and challenge Bortles for the starting QB job.

Tom Brady's successor may not be in the 2018 NFL Draft class. Instead, New England looks like they're dipping their toe into the free agent waters.

According to WEEI's Kirk Minihane, the Patriots have made a contract offer to free agent quarterback AJ McCarron. The specifics on what kind of deal the Patriots have put on the table for McCarron were not reported, but this is overall a surprising turn of events for New England.

Following the trades of Jimmy Garoppolo along with Jacoby Brissett, many pointed to the Pats trying their hand at finding another quarterback through the draft. While that's still entirely possible, their pursuit of McCarron is intriguing to say the least.

The 27-year-old has spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Bengals after they drafted him in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Alabama. In his very limited playing time, McCarron has totaled 920 yards passing on a 64.7 completion percentage to go along with six touchdowns and two interceptions.

McCarron is also a product of Bill Belichick's close friend Nick Saban at Alabama where he was under center for three National Championship teams.
I needed a laugh this morning! My word you are deluded.

Tom Brady's heir apparent, if you please. Cincinnati did everything they could to undermine McCarron. Odds are high, Roger Goodell, a pro football executive with origins in the New England Patriots' franchise, voided the Bengals-Browns McCarron trade personally. Pull a few legal strings and McCarron is no longer a restricted free agent ready ready to jump into the Tom Brady heir-apparent role.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

Come on, Tom. Come on, David. Make something happen!

A better question is why did I accidentally post this in the college football forum? That's OK. I delete it there. All fine now. Laughing
Waaait a minute! I smell a rat! I think Omaha has reinvented himself as JUNGLE CAT 2017.

Just look at the writing style. Just look at the ridiculous content. It's gotta be satire, and it's gotta be Omaha writing it.

You have Omaha surrounded in his tanks, bub?

McCarron represents an intriguing alternative, though. While relatively inexperienced — he appeared in just 11 total games during his previous four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals — the 27-year-old won three national titles during his college career at Alabama, whose head coach, Nick Saban, has a famously strong connection with Belichick.

The terms of the Patriots’ reported offer to McCarron are unclear, but he should be a relative bargain compared to the other marquee names already off the board. New England should have some competition, though, as the Buffalo Bills were among the several teams reportedly eyeing McCarron.

You don't remember JungleCat from the old message board?  Guy was a YUGE McCarron fan when he came out.

Bucky Brooks mock drafted A.J. McCarron being drafted with the very next pick.

I said well before the draft that McCarron has the most amount of elite talent since Andrew Luck. I even took him as the Jaguars GM in the annual mock draft.

How humiliating will it be to the Jaguars' front office if I am 100% correct and the Texans have a quarterback that turns into the next Tom Brady?
Of all the QBs to throw money at, AJ would make most sense to me. If you're going to overpay for a guy who isn't going to carry a team, might as well go with a guy who's paycheck is likely to closer match what he's going to give you.

Look at it this way....

You have a mess of local media messing with David Caldwell's head.

"Bortles sounds like some kind of dog snack". "What the Jaguars need is Lamar Jackson." "Lamar Jackson." "Lamar Jackson."

Little does David Caldwell know the local media H-A-T-E-S Tom Coughlin. Caldwell can sense it, maybe.

So he wants to be popular among the free booze and free food media frenzy and he drafts Lamar Jackson.

What's that gonna be like?

In no time at all the local media will depict Doug Marrone as incapable of getting the most out of Lamar Jackson. The head coach and the franchise quarterback are always tied together. Marrone continues to be maligned to the point of 'he doesn't have that head coach/franchise quarterback bond'.

Within no time at all, the local media will be dropping the name of their tru bro, Bobby Petrino. Yes, that's right. The same Bobby Petrino who QUIT the NFL. The same guy who couldn't man up about his Harley Davidson romp with the Arkansas volleyball honco-ette. The same Bobby Petrino who found forgiveness in Louisville, the place and the scholarship athletes he had dumped just a few years earlier.

Funny, it's still there.

Bobby is a new man, they'll say. Why not bring in Petrino to sooth the crumpled sensitivities of Lamar? Since when has the local media had the football sense to make moves that don't leave Jacksonville's Jaguars twisting in the wind as a NFL laughingstock franchise?

The NFL is made up of prideful franchise full of men, who know a quitter like Bobby Petrino when they see him. This, of course, gets lost among the booze hounds in the local media.

Thirty-one franchises will be circling their schedules around any game against the Bobby Cats.

Good lord man. He's not Jesus Christ. This obsession is not healthy. If he turns out to be the second coming of Brady, I'll eat crow. Until then, I don't see it. Holy moly lol

Oh my god, what did you take to form this opinion and make these scenarios up in your head?

If nothing else, your work of fiction is amazing.
It just gets goofier and goofier.

This is great entertainment. I personally blame Obama for holding McCarron down for so long.
